Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Morning @Afrigirl,

Firstly, thank your for responding and keeping us up to date. I still rate you guys highly, suppose thats why ive been with you for 15 years.

I understand that yesterday you were confirming stability before providing us with our "static" IP addresses again. I am still recieving the CGNAT IP 100.x and not my usual 102.182.x.x. (hidden for privacy)
Not to harp to much, but this CGNAT is driving me nuts with my home systems. Besides my home network, i have links back from my hosted Afrihost sites which requires that the IP remain static and dynamic dns is not secure enough for my needs.

Is there any update or time frame from Afihosts side to get our addresses back.

Regards
Tyron
Hello.

Please check PM.

Good morning.

Thank you for reaching out, and I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and frustration you’ve experienced.

Our WhatsApp support agents are required to adhere to specific response time guidelines, which unfortunately limits their ability to view previous chat history. However, it is each agent’s responsibility to document the nature of your inquiry, its resolution status, and to set appropriate reminders for follow-ups or callbacks directly on your profile.

It appears that in this instance, proper procedure was not followed, and I genuinely regret the impact this has had on your experience.

To assist you further and ensure we follow up effectively, please provide the Octotel ticket reference number.
Thanks. I've DM'd it to you.

Re: your WhatsApp support SLA's:

I know my feedback is extremely unlikely to change anything, but I'd seriously rethink the point of your WhatsApp support, or investigate introducing a tiered support system. In its current form, your WhatsApp support literally just annoys me more than anything else. It's incredibly frustrating having to re-explain my issue every time I reach out. I would far rather wait significantly longer for a reply with actual useful information instead of going back and forth with someone unnecessarily. Besides, your agents almost always take quite a bit of time to get back to me anyway, so I'm forced to respond to the annoying auto (I assume) prompt asking me if I'm still there every few minutes.

Please bear in mind that your customers have jobs too. I was sitting in a meeting 2 days ago trying to find out what's going on with my internet and had to pick up my phone every few minutes to respond to a "Are you still there?" message while waiting for the agent to give me feedback. Not cool when I'm trying to work and the only reason I'm engaging with you is because the service I've paid you for isn't working properly...

Morning @Afrigirl

Would it be possible to get an update on the static IPs that is available to all? I see tyrons asked "Is there any update or time frame from Afihosts side to get our addresses back." but your response was a PM. What is the latest?

Hi.

We are allocating public IPs upon request.
If you need a public IP, send me a PM with your email address or the current IP you are seeing.

Hi all,

Just a quick clarification regarding public IPs and the recent outage:

We only offer static IPs on Openserve and Vumatel connections. Openserve uses PPPoE and was not impacted by the outage.

Static IPs on Openserve are available at an additional cost.

We understand that due to the outage experienced over the past two days, some clients have lost the public IPs they had retained for an extended period. However, unless a static IP was specifically assigned (and billed accordingly), the IP in question was dynamically allocated. This means we cannot guarantee the reallocation of the same IP address.

And it can change as it is dynamic anyway. Better off using ddns but I am not sure if Afrihost DDNS works on DHCP connections. With my Openserve connection it is a heaven sent.

It does work, the dynamic v4 IPs are rotated when you change hardware, I'm still waiting on stable ipv6 prefixes. @Afrihost team any update on that. what is delaying the provisioning of stable prefixes?

The move to the new BNGs needs to be successful first. @AfriNatic can give more insight here.

"No Internet" again my side. Are things still a little iffy? What's the current status?
