Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Our team is working tirelessly to get the Octotel connectivity issue resolved as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone who has provided troubleshooting results. We greatly appreciate it, and it is helping with the investigation.

We appreciate your patience and will provide further updates as soon as we have them.
I'm not octotel I'm openserve, any news for me? I recall not too long ago there was an issue only affecting static IP customers

Still down? And Afrihost website isn't even working.
The connectivity issue is still ongoing and is currently affecting clients on a specific VLAN. Affected clients may receive an IP address and reach their gateway, but are unable to access the internet.

Our team is working with the relevant network teams to get this resolved as soon as possible. We are also aware that our website is currently down.

We appreciate your patience and understanding and will provide further updates as soon as we have them.

Did someone put a drop rule in the wrong place 😋

Morning

Can you check if you get DHCP. Can you reach/ping the gateway or reach any IP or is it hard down?
I can receive an IP but no traffic passing

Thanks. On our side, we learn the MAC on the NNI. We have an ARP entry for it. We see active sessions on the BNGs for subscribers, but very little traffic flows. So far, the issue is still eluding us.

It seems that during the late afternoon the situation worsened and just died. Experienced yesterday and on Thursday. This was not an issue prior to Octotels maintenance which was completed the morning of the 30th. I'm not sure if the two are related or just a coincidence of timing. Possible that on OLT has become faulty?

Afrihost network and system engineers are still working on the ongoing outage affecting some Octotel clients in the Western Cape. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Is it possible for you to do an arp check or if someone who is affected to do an arp -a connected directly to the ONT to see if you get the gateway MAC address. We are also looking into the possibility of someone on this specific vlan spoofing the gateway mac causing a loop.

Only MAC I see is E4-78-76-BC-AB-61

Seems to be stabilizing

We moved the vlan to another Arista and that fixed the issue. We are still investigating why as the only thing that changed in is the gateway mac. It does present the same way as an unknown unicast flood or loop of some sort.

I hope you find the culprit before it happens to this Arista.
