Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

I just checked outside, as the hub is directly outside my house, they left bits of cut fibre cable and an empty spool on the pavement from yesterday... They should cleanup after themselves... Hopefully their work isn't as sloppy...

Hi @Afrigirl, it seems like Vuma Villages is out again. This is the 3rd night in a row this is happening, and always during peak hours. Can you find out why this keeps happening please?

Hi

We are actively working with Vumatel and the respective Vendors to find a permanent solution to the ongoing issues facing Vuma Villages on Afrihost.

For now we are recommending clients to change to PPPoE in a phased approach.

Please can you login to clientzone and reset PPPoE details and change from DHCP to PPPoE.

Please also send myself and @Afrigirl a DM with your email address as we will add you to the PPPoE spreadsheet we have going for clients.

Please

What about people who's been locked out from the client zone? Please add me to the pppoe list

Vuma Villages is aerial fibre which works on GPON network and Vumatel is trenched and is it's on an active Ethernet network

Do you know what's causing these issues over the last few days?

Also I changed to PPPoE and still have no internet.

There are currently 2 major issues affecting services on Vuma Villages.

Afrihost and the Vuma team with vendors are working on a complex issue affecting Afrihost and Axxess clients on the Vuma Villages network. @AfriNatic and the Noc team have had multiple meetings and are actively engaging with the Vuma team to find a permanent solution to the ongoing intermittent connection being experienced.

A second major network incident occurred and has been logged under NWI-12486 and the Vuma Active Fibre team is currently also attending to this network incident.

Can someone with a fast line 50mbps+ check something for me.

What's your current download speed downloading Nvidia drivers?

Just downloaded one mine was between 9.5MBps to 11.5MBps on a 100mb line

The impact has been mitigated and we will continue to monitor the network through the night to spot any additional impacts.

Apologies for the issues experienced.
