Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

This looks like it might be a lan cable limiting your speeds. Are you on 200Mbps? Please double check the cables unplug and replug them to see if that fixes the issue.
No, it is not the cable. I was on 1000Mbps and downgraded to 200Mbps. The problem is always on your side and not my side. Should I downgrade to 50Mbps?
I never had a problem for years on Home Connect I then moved to Afrihost in June 2021 on a 1000Mbps connection because the Windows clock was not syncing and updating so the clock would be wrong on Home Connect. The first 9 months were fine until I downgraded the speed as 1000Mbps was a waste for me. After the speed downgrade, it has been a nonstop random nightmare since then.

Should I go back to Home Connect?

Will I be on a different system if I go back to a 1000Mbps connection? I never had a problem when I was on a 1000Mbps connection

Your speeds being ~94Mbps usually means the port is negotiating at 100Mbps.

We deployed a python script to eat up the multicasts on this vlan. It was deployed around 11am and seems to be doing quite a bit.

Can you monitor your connection and see if the packetloss is gone?
Still getting around 40% packet loss, starting at around 6pm.

Anyone else down on Vuma EL.
No broadband or service light on the ONT

Please drop me a pm with your email so I can log it. Pop status show up for most lines but they are down. Looks like a lec branch is down possibly due to a break somewhere.

Hi @AfriNatic / @Afrigirl

Please can you escalate the tickets already logged for the Richmond switch/pop, fibre has been down in Goodwood area since 7pm last night.

Email support is giving me feedback from last month from Vuma saying everything is fine, it is not.

Everytime there is load shedding or shortly thereafter, the fibre in the area goes down. Other people in neighbouring areas confirmed that it is sorted on their side, with their ISP's getting Vuma techs out to sort out their problem.

How come is the Richmond pop/switch such a problem?? Please escalate. I have PM'd my email address in the meantime to both of you.

In addition the ticket number provided last time round by @AfriNatic, namely NW - 15329, your support staff says this ticket does not exist. So I do not know who is lying to who here.

Hi guys

The issue seems to have been resolved, thanks, hoping it stays this way now.

No name in the email, so think it's safe to put up the response here I received as evidence.

Person is extremely worried about my health and safety thoughScreenshot_20230403_144614.jpg
