Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

I've been having problems with international upload speed for the past few weeks.

Local is fine (75/50 line limited to 65/40 for SQM):

International, download is fine but upload is always around 5mbps:

I've tried a few different servers with similar results. I have noticed this when uploading to AWS S3 and ECR (us-east-1), or to some US-based secure file sharing sites, so it's not just Ookla either.

@Afrihost-Gian why is Afrihost such a difficult company to deal with?

A simple request to remove my credit card details because I'm no longer a customer and I get the continuous run around from your support staff.

You don't need the details, why refuse to remove them?

since joing Afrihost at the begining of Jan, i've had the exact same issue. I'm on a 100/100. local is perfectly fine, but speed test to UK consistently give me <30Mbps UPLOAD. I've tried different devices, different times, cable direct to ONT, nothing improves. I've reached out directly to Afrinatic, they've logged tickets with Vuma, nothings helped.

This is my speed test history after moving away from Afrihost, also downgraded from a 200Mb to 100Mb line.

Good luck.

Also thinking of leaving afrihost. Moved from vox to afrihost and international speeds is just not the same.

Afrihost site redesign

Not sure where this would actually go, but I do like it!qiD0Df4[2].png

The site looks nice. Tried it on mobile quickly. The menu on the side looks a bit out of place and MFN pricing returns a 500 internal server error, but the styling looks pretty neat overall.

Guess they just need to hash out a couple of bugs.

Have the same with my upload as well at home and at the office, also stuck at 5Mbps international with Openserve.

Is there any update on the openserv outage in the Lenasia area

@AfriNatic anyway you could peer with Quad9 in CPT. Seems to be routing up to Durban

Do you have a traceroute for me?

Our upstream provider peers with route servers and we have private sessions with most selective peers and pni's with the big content providers which means if it's at NAP we should get the traffic there. The only reason it will shift to another region is if the provider withdraws announcements but still announce at other nap locations.

I do see the same from JHB though so let me log it so we can see what we get from PCH at nap.
