The lights are on but nobodies home. Some sites render, others time out... thought maybe dns so I changed from Afrihost to Google (8.8.8.8) but no difference.

Yeah. Same here. Internet is balls up. Unless you hitting cache.I'm working with the team. It looks MTU related on the new core switch.
Much better but not what it should be. Europe seems a bit slow to loadWe applied a temp fix to a possible bug/issue with the switch.

For now things look okay.

Yes, it should have been. We have been prepping for a week regarding this change and required simply to change 2 x fibre cables from one switch to the other.
When we did that traffic instantly returned to normal. We did our post-change checks and were happy with everything. We have Raspberry Pi's deployed all over at staff premises and some clients to monitor changes and we were happy.
It seemed that only certain devices were affected and the majority of clients were not affected so we did not pick up the issue straight away.
I do apologise for this.
Durban connection is really bad again, was only good yesterday after the day befores issues. Another fibre long distance problem?
