Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi @AfriNatic @Afrigirl

The internet is down all lights green on ONT as well as router after a restart

Since the router is showing internet connectivity but it’s so slow that nothing loads and a ping does not work via Wi-Fi and Ethernet

Yes we have lost all Vuma Villages traffic in KZN. We are investigating the cause with Vumatel.

Hey @AfriNatic would a test account be possible to run a few traces over 3/4/5 days by any chance? Im happy to pay for a low data cap account but Id like to run some tests when another ISP gives me issues to see what my equivalent would be on Afri?

Hello.

Which FNO are you with?

@Soprono Also thinking of jumping ship?
Well I can confirm. Since moving to Afrihost on Saturday, it's been the smoothest experience I've ever had. Had a 1gb connection with CISP before this.

Can play games in the evening. Join my work calls in the evening. Work during the day. No more disconnects. No more weird ping spikes and packet loss constantly.
The WHOLE of last week I had packet loss LOCALLY.
You get told "fno congestion" etc etc etc.

Some how changing ISP's fixes it all.
You don't even need me to confirm. Just look at how quiet this forum thread is and has always been.
It's dead silent.

Been on my mind, I hate the admin and am scared of downtime so I would cave in and leave it when things look like they are improving, etc then it all just spurs up again.

The blame is constantly on international providers, NLD's ect. but like @Satedah said, this thread is stone cold quite when these issues happen. Makes no sense.

Then as I sit here typing this.......

I'm strongly considering it but leaving CISP for Afrihost apparently adds like 20-30ms increased ping to EU. Anyone in JHB running Exitlag or similar, can it compensate?

Is there like a trial account for Openserve to run some light pingtests etc @Afrigirl @AfriNatic ?

I think @Satedah moved over and said he uses Exitlag for gaming. Apparently it brought his ping down to 167? He can confirm though. Just requested an immediate release on my line. Definitely moving over to Afrihost. Had a test account with them 2 weeks ago and it was pure joy. No more connection drops etc etc.

I've canceled my line with them as well. Willing to take the extra ms to get stable connection. Just waiting till end of the month.

Thank you
Jeez that was super quick, saw you asked only 35 minutes ago. Let us know how fast you get connected.

Just waiting on Vumatel to configure my line so it points to Afrihost. Let’s see how long that takes

Eager to see how quick you can get sorted with Afrihost, helps with the planning a bit. Iv got an awesome person on the Balwin Fibre side who has always helped so hoping he could too on that part.
