Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

My line has just been released.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl please assist in getting me connected ASAP.
VC-040723-281695

Thank you
Hi.
Our Order will activate by Midnight. I have asked Vuma to change the VLAN to an Afrihost Vlan.
We can use a test account to get you online as soon as that is done.

@Joseph_ please ask them to complete an immediate release. Vuma won't change the VLAN for us, as they are still seeing an active order with CISP.

Just spoke to someone at CISP and they told me the connects department has just knocked off for the day. They will release the line in the morning at 8.

Don’t know why they told me it was released immediately when it wasn’t.

Thank you will get back to you tomorrow.

Hi, apparently it has just been released. Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 5

I asked Vuma noc to quickly assist with the activation.

Activation failed as an old FSAN is linked to the premise.

I'm strongly considering it but leaving CISP for Afrihost apparently adds like 20-30ms increased ping to EU. Anyone in JHB running Exitlag or similar, can it compensate?

Is there like a trial account for Openserve to run some light pingtests etc @Afrigirl @AfriNatic ?
Afrihost EU latency = 199. In Jhb exit lag drops that down to 167ms.
Tried some league so far and 167ms is my latency there. Will probably be game server dependent. But exit lag achieves what coolideas does.

As long as all these cisp clients don't swap to afrihost now and cause afrihost to die out xD

How long does a line migration with Thinkspeed usually take? Been without connectivity since Saturday, migration order was placed on Monday apparently.

Well I can confirm. Since moving to Afrihost on Saturday, it's been the smoothest experience I've ever had. Had a 1gb connection with CISP before this.

Can play games in the evening. Join my work calls in the evening. Work during the day. No more disconnects. No more weird ping spikes and packet loss constantly.
The WHOLE of last week I had packet loss LOCALLY.
You get told "fno congestion" etc etc etc.

Some how changing ISP's fixes it all.
You don't even need me to confirm. Just look at how quiet this forum thread is and has always been.
It's dead silent.

Can confirm - abandoned ship from CISP to AH on 21 June and it's been smooth sailing ever since.

AH also offer a free Gaming VPN for latency: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/afrihost-gaming-pptp-alpha.1235137/

The CPT one doesn't really have any effect from what I can see, but I believe the other two make a big difference from JHB/DBN clients.

Nah, AFAIK Afrihost is massive compared to CISP. I think those switching are just a drop in the ocean.

Yep. Afrihost knows what they're doing for sure.
Goes to show for over a year of being told "must be congestion on the FNO side" was a massive lie. Looks like the CISP infrastructure has completely toppled over now given the fact that since Sunday their forum has been absolutely bombarded with complaints and all the complaints are the same as before. Just affecting more and more people.

Hello.
It may take 24 to 72 hours. Please check your PM.

Previously it was a game of whack-a-mole with WIOCC and NLD issues. Now it seems to be both at the same time.

Hi @Afrigirl

Please assist with the line activation. Still waiting on Vuma. CISP line was released as of this morning at 6am. Service light is off.
