This sounds super dodge. R72/R52 for a twelve month license. That's cheaper than their 1 month license.

Are you downloading the setup files from Nord or some other link as well?

It is not a question that they're dodge, but if they work as a stopgap for myself and some family members whilst the internet is stuffed then whatever. I'm not taking out another paid VPN subscription. Every single one I've ever had, which includes every major VPN provider, had garbage performance that hugely nerfed my connection. VPNs have little to no value to me.

(Account credentials are supplied, not a license key. You simply login to any of the NordVPN apps and don't change the email or password ever.)

This Warp+ service from Cloudflare is vastly superior to any VPN I've come across. They focus on performance rather than masking IP addresses, and it shows.

why are you purchasing off eBay? Having a look I see they are selling a yearly subscription for R58.Nord charges more than that for monthly. How is that possible?

Because it's super dodge. But I'm not paying normal rates for a quick stopgap. If it works I'm fine with that.

I am just thinking...if undersea cables get broke like this, do ISP not have redundancy/rerouting to at least optimize the traffic?
Why can't Afrihost just run this workaround for all their clients? (dumb legal question)--but still.

At work it is BitCo and international is fine--is this running through SEACOM??

They might but most likely with limited capacity. You may also sit in a scenario where they have only agreed to x amount of capacity on that sea cable and put all their eggs into the SAT3 cable route.

All speculation I guess....I'm also no expert on that

Looks like this problem is going to carry on till middle of February as per Tenet tweets. My solution was create a Virtual server in South Africa that doesn’t use Sat3 or wacs , create an openvpn connection and connect your router to your virtual server .

Out of interest what router are you using and which hosting provider for the VM?

Why not just use the purevpn service? It's R170 for a years sub with the current special.

A VPS will set you back maybe R60-100 for a month. Yes it's cheaper, not sure if it's worth the effort though.

This Im building mine as we speak right now. Got the PC atleast sorted but this will sort out the rest of the house.

It’s more fun when you do it yourself and you learn things in the process . And when purevpn servers get congested then you back to square one.

Maybe. I've had my own printunl vpn server for a while. Takes a few minutes to setup. Issue I ran into was that 99% of VPS providers don't offer more than a 100Mbps connection. So if your line is 100 or below, go for it.
