How do you determine if a host routes traffic?
 
If anyone wants a super easy and cheap means of restoring their internet to 'usable' level, get a custom Windscribe VPN account.

1) Head to their website, it loads fine locally
2) Create a custom account with SA as the only location ($1 pm) and tick the option for unlimited data ($1 pm)
3) That's it. You have a premium VPN for $2 pm, billed monthly

WIndscribe has good quality apps on all platforms. Just download, login and Bob's your uncle. I'm seeing very mediocre speeds, but everything at least works fine for general use.

If you want to spend more, ExpressVPN is supposed to be the best of the bunch.

Which server in London? Doubt there is anything wrong with it, as local maxes out at 400/400.

I did not install the python 3.6+ (Step 3)--was getting errors in CMD pip command...eish (it is has been a while since I did this type of work..under linux troubleshooting issues...bottom line--it is stupid easy...but people like me will need to be present...LOL!

Posting this update--python (24MB file is downloading at 14kKB/s...wow..how I remember those days...)
 
Ok...I see how this work now...it is tunneling using a Cloudflare server--so now even DSTv thinks I am in another country.

Anyways, I at least I can now get to international with decent speeds.
Will switch to local later to catch up on PL football...lekker!
 
I'm wondering if Afrihost will be trying to peer with other undersea cable systems till the issue is resolved.
 
So this is when all the ISP's really stand out, when stuff like this happens. I know this is a major issue affecting 2 different cables, but it feels like Afrihost are just sitting around waiting for it to get fixed rather than trying to get additional capacity somewhere else to fix it.
