They came to my house during the day when there is no issue on the line. Checked the lights on my ONT and said there is no issue... Emailed every address I had finally got a response that they are going to look at the node. But that is a different department...
I agree. The worst part is not being able to deal with a company that has control of both the line and connection if I can call it that. Almost seems as if afrihost is scared to report a fault with SADV at times...After more than 3 weeks of random dropouts on a fibre line, they finally lodged the 3rd fault with SADV and promised SADV would come out to investigate. SADV ref: #(1000182197)
I sent numerous traceroutes showing the issue. I changed routers because they insisted it was the router. Still happens. So by process of elimination the fault lies with Afrihost or SADV. I can't even get SADV out to check the lights, not that it sounds like it's any use anyway.
Yesterday an SADV contractor called but they were the wrong contractor. Today, Afrihost wants me to disconnect my internet and run a continuous ping until the thing that happens randomly and sporadically, happens. That could take all day or even days.
Say what you want about Telkom but if there was a fault they sent out a tech.
And they don't seem to respond here anymore or on social media anymore.

I don't really use the internet during the day and the people who do wouldn't notice packet loss or slow speeds (+-50mbps). But come 5pm until about 10pm at night i have slow speeds and packet loss. Twitch is a no go, luckily youtube and Netflix work fine but I can't play any games on EU servers and even local servers are tough with 20% packet loss at times.
The struggle is real. I hope your issue gets sorted. I just demanded that both companies keep the support tickets open until the issue is resolved. So all communications happen via email between SADF, AH and myself. Just keep your cool and be nice with a touch of passive aggressiveness![]()
