Random Positive Feedback -

Think I am in month 9 or 10 back at Afrihost, after straying briefly to another provider, active on this forum.
Had a few bumps in the beginning, but it was on Openserves side in my area, got sorted pretty quickly. Now it's smooth sailing. Gaming latencies to uk are great(120mms Avg-fine for mmorpgs), local also great. No buffering on any of the streaming devices and no intermittent connection issues. Always receive speedy replies from the support on MyBB and on twitter.

I pretty much rely on the internet, work from home, like many others at the moment, it is also my hobby and the only way I can stay close to my family, as everyone is spread far and wide(ie skype)

I have not been let down. Proud of Gian and the team, from my side and IMPO, I feel like you guys have stepped up your game

@AfriNatic I use third party dns for streaming.. when I use them most things route locally like CloudFlare hosted sites but Google's sites dont.

Does Google not announce all it's IP ranges from its nodes in JHB? I'll deal with it being served internationally - prefer to be able to watch Hulu than some latency on gmail - just wondering.

eg: via the dns provider I use
Code:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
mail.google.com. 217237 IN CNAME googlemail.l.google.com.
googlemail.l.google.com. 168 IN A 216.58.198.165

via @1.1.1.1
Code:
;; ANSWER SECTION:
mail.google.com. 604572 IN CNAME googlemail.l.google.com.
googlemail.l.google.com. 72 IN A 216.58.223.133

tracing to 216.58.198.165 goes international but 216.58.223.133 stops in jhb.

This is just due to the DNS hey. Google manages how they announce their prefixes so they might be seeing you from London and serve you from there.

@AfriNatic Hi bud, wanted to know is the double speed promo over because I am getting half the speeds of the 40mbps promo...?,

Hi Afrihost. We have download speed issues at both of our fibre accounts in the West Rand area. We are getting 500mbps instead of 1Gbps. Upload speeds are perfect. Have reset ONT's, routers etc. This was first noticed this morning. Please address this urgently.
Any feedback on this. Getting the same here. Also West Rand

Internet died again for 15 minutes again. 2:45am to 3:01am
Vumatel in Weltevreden Park. Started off looking like a DNS issue and then completely died.

Feedback on this would really be appreciated. Happening quite often in the early hours of the morning now.

Can't do anything this morning on Fibre.

Ping plotter shows packet loss between IP. Afrihost. Co. ZA and Cloudflare

Rebooted everything and seems to be back up for me.

IF you can give me examples I could log a fault or ask for feedback from the FNO. We could not see any issue on our side. It's certainly not a widespread issue because we only have a handful of clients mentioning this.

Could you give me some examples of what you’d need evidence wise?

If we can get a time stamp of when the outages occur like a continuous ping or traceroute of some sort. We want to see when it drops and what happens when it drops. With that we can prove our case in a fault with the FNO.

Our fibre does not have any FUP. Uncapped, Unshaped, Unthrottled.
I thought maybe my line speed dropped last night because of my usage

Internet connectivity is bit of a yoyo this morning, but all lights remain green on the fibre router?
I'm having the same problem. I have confirmed the issue is also happening at our offices and 2 other colleagues. All in the Cape Town area (Helderberg) and all on FrogFoot FNO with various ISPs (Afrihost, Vox and CapeConnect)
