I had a brief call from someone at Vuma earlier in the week after your prompting. She asked if it was a new install or an activation. I had no way of confirming that, but I stated there was a Vuma branded ONT in the house. It was left at that. No further comms from Vuma since.

They cancelled the new install and sent for activation which did not happen.

Can you send me a pm with your email address and a picture of the branded ONT and the lights of this ONT so I can escalate it for you.

Vuma/Afrihost 1Gb/200Mb, Cape Town, Southern Suburbs.
D/L is between 160 and 300Mb since Friday when I first noticed it.

No outages shown in CT for Vuma, only the one below that is RESOLVED.

Okay is this on Vumatel or Vuma Aerial?

Have you tired testing connected directly to the CPE/ONT to see if speeds are still slow? Also please try testing with the speedtest.net app to see if there is any improvement in speeds.

Pure Fibre - ↓ 1Gbps - ↑ 200Mbps VUMA

I'll try later to check speeds etc, got admin to do right now sorry.
I did all the newb tests over the weekend, but will try again later.

Putting this solution here so Google can spider it.

After Firmware Update on Router Archer AX50, Speed Downgraded from 1Gb/200Mb Fibre to approximately 200Mb/200Mb, South Africa specific as far as I know.

*Service Provider: Vuma
*ISP: Afrihost
*Fibre Speed 1000Mb/200mb
*TP-LINK Archer AX50 v1.0 Router -
Firmware (ZA) South Africa: 1.0.11 Build 20210730 rel.54485
*Switch DLink DGS-1016D/C

The issue has nothing to do with Afrihost or Vuma, I'm just mentioning that upfront.

The TP-LINK Archer AX50 Router after latest firmware update made the top green light on the VUMA ONT flash constantly and downgraded the download speeds across the LAN to around 200Mb/200Mb.

A hard reset of the router was performed to remedy the situation.
Go to Advanced/System Tools/Backup & Restore/Factory Default Restore.
2 Options available, I chose the restore all settings and kept my login details

After hard reset of router, top green light on ONT stays solid green.

Hope this helps someone with the same Router after the latest firmware update.
In my case the top green light was the clue that all was not well.
Also by connecting a cable from the ONT directly to the PC the speed would be back up to 1Gb, which narrowed my search to the Router itself.

This is the first firmware update for this router since it was sold on to the market.
I'm expecting others to experience the same?

Edit: Narrowed the problem to QoS/Device Priority/Priority.
Uncheck the Slider Bar under the Priority Column.
I had my devices prioritised on my LAN.

@AfriNatic Is there a major fault in KZN? Myself and a few of my friends have been having serious connection problems from last night.

I'm on Frogfoot fibre in Richards Bay, internet has been super slow from yesterday evening. I could barely connected to PSN for 5 min continuously, had to switch to LTE. After that I couldn't even stream Netflix or YouTube on the lowest quality

Just had constant disconnects on Fibre from about 7am - 9am
Seems to have resolved itself now

No ETA on the fix? Its bad enough we got load shedding in the evenings. We cant even stream on our phones or laptops during this time
