@AfriNatic My Openserve line's been rock solid the past 18 months, but this week we've had 3x outages..... third one now, been off the last 20 minutes. What's happening?:X3:

Affecting the whole neighbourhood by the way.

What happens if you cancel an OS line and the B number gets deallocated and after a couple of months you reapply? Does OS techs need to come out again to activate, or is everything done online?

E.g. if I switch from OS to Metro and come back to OS after a couple of months.

Hi,

So an Openserve B number only stays active in the wholesale transitioning area (holding pool) for 14 days. After 14 days it's ceased and if you signup again it would need a provide order to allocate a new B number and a tech appointment to activate it and check if the install is still okay as the fibre strand might be used for neighbors signing up.

Do the afrihost openserve fibre accounts only work with the B Number / ONT it's assigned to. Meaning I cannot use an AH account on another OS installation?

We lock the PPPoE accounts to the B number it's ordered with to prevent account sharing.

Can some one from Afrihost advise if anything has changed. Since yesterday around 5PM most of my international streaming service buffer every 1 minute. This had never been an issue up until yesterday. what is wiered is Speed tests and traceroutes all give the correct results.

Hi,

We have lost a path yesterday between 15:00 and 18:00 but it has since recovered and latency is looking good.

International traffic levels look good.

Slow international can also be due to packetloss on the last mile.

I wasn't around yesterday afternoon/evening to use streaming services, but today at around 12pm Netflix was taking a while to buffer, and then kept dropping to 144p (or whatever the lowest resolution was) and then buffering. Websites on my phone were slow to load. Connected to a VPN and the problem went away. This continued until 2pm when I gave up (and my lunch break was over).

i still think afrihost is missing something. i can confirm no packet loss. i have rebooted the ont and my router. like i said speedtest etc looks great. but i cannot use my streaming services where every 1 minute is buffers. can we troubleshoot further ? . cannot even watch my hbo max for the past two days

Trying to download LibreELEC distro and its coming down at 5KB/s.
Rebooted my router and speeds went back to normal, then after 5 min dropped back down to pathetic speeds.
