Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Don't kill me I just want to give feedback and it's NOT bad

We sometimes give @rpm crap for all the AH articles and @AfriFella and his colleagues gets a lot of flak. But for myself at least I had a good experience.

The day I read on here about Afrihost Pure Fibre I informed one of my clients (already a AH 100/100 Fibre client) about this new product. He works from home but needs superfast remote access. He's also an avid gamer. Long story short after the upgrade his Fibre Connection (which was perfect) has all the new goodies and he pays R500 per month less. I also had zero issues migrating them to exchange online. So guess who scored a ton of brownie points? :coffee:

Glad we could you get you in his good books :)

@AfriFella: still got the russian roulette problem, start download, slow, stop download, retry, slow, stop, retry slow, stop retry full speed, so i'm throwing in the towel. i've cancelled in clientzone, please release my line asap.

Sorry to hear that you've decided to cancel - was chatting to AfriFella and it seemed like the upgrade we did for you sorted everything out.

We'd be happy to do more testing and troubleshooting with you - can our NOC guys get in touch with you directly?

i thought it was as it only happens randomly but it just took a day to realise it was still around, just not as bad.

no, don't worry, i would like to go back to seacom, had zero issues with them.

all my issues revolve around RD, all other services and speedtests are perfect.

Alright thanks for the results. I will discuss this with our network engineers and get back to you about this today.
It's not THAT bad - its only about 10ms worse than i got with CISP. With that said - i must say my connection does feel snappier - websites load faster. Not sure if I'm experiencing the placebo effect, but it does feel a bit more responsive overall.

The only thing im miffed about is that I'm losing out on my extra free month - not so happy about that.

I haven't seen one ounce of buffering on dstv now.. Netflix or Showmax since I signed up.. #happy camper..

I also get full speed so far - so nothing to complain about ( yet ), but it's early days....

So far so good !

Oh - and I just love the AH app - man your devs really know how to make stylish apps and websites - that's for sure. !

You're not imagining it. I experienced the same thing, and my wife noticed it too without me prompting her. Additionally, Twitch is almost instant for clips now, and I can actually stream at source quality on live streams with zero buffering. Also, my downloads all run at line speed now (200mbps) whereas CISP couldn't manage half that, and constantly told me it was packet loss and/or the remote servers couldn't handle it.

I'll admit I had reservations about moving over, but I'm glad I did.

I am so sorry that your experience with us has been poor. I did upgrade your package from 20mbps to 200mbps but I understand that it did not improve your experience. I have asked our fibre team to release the line.

I am so sorry about this. To make it up to you, I will upgrade your line to 200mbps when the migration has been completed next month.

Yeah - so far with regards to speeds and such - it looks very promising. It really does feel "snappy" for lack of a better description.

It's good to hear that your connection is good. Please let me know if you need anything. :D
