Hi, all.

I signed up for a 4mb line with Telkom + Afrihost 4mb uncapped package, got it on Thursday. Things were flying - right up until today, where it's now sitting at 40-80kb/s. Is this normal for Afrihost? I've always had a 384k connection, so I don't have any experience with which to compare these speeds. Thing is, I've only downloaded, like, 800mb worth of stuff, so I hardly feel I could have hit their threshold limit already.

Speedtest shows things should be flying, but international downloads are sitting at 80kb/s tops.

You're getting 4.5mb down and 0.8 up.

This means that you've on a 10mb line, and Afrihost doesn't throttle their upload speed on those, interesting.

Really though, swap to MWEB if you want a consistent connection.

No ways switch to openweb gold if you want a constant connection, mweb is decent but don't expect full speed on everything

I wouldn't recommend Afrihost uncapped myself. Openweb Gold

Afrihos uncapped isn't good. Neither is MWEBs anymore either. For consistancy, as was already said, you need openweb GOLD.

Dude I feel your pain. Ive had it this month so far and was Throttled at 45gig. Not happy at all and will SURELY cancel at the end of the month and go somewhere else. Quite disappointed in the service, I thought on 4mb uncapped you could easily get 100gig as that is just what I wanted...but only 50 is ridiculous...so maybe I should look into Openweb Gold or Mweb aswell. Expected more from Afrihost and they have left me disappointed.
