Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Well I know of a few guys that are pulling together in order to do a mass exodus from AH as an ISP at the same time with a letter of disapproval "signed" by each exodusee (not sure if that is a word but I guess it is now) in order to show their disapproval for a disastrous mess that AH got themselves into. Popcorn anyone.

Well I'm busy trying to figure out if patience is worth it in this case. Afrihost were always extremely good, but after reading about 15+ pages of this thread, it doesn't seem to be the case anymore. All I've read is that the additional capacity will sort out the issues we're all experiencing at the moment, so I'm simply asking, what if it doesn't? If you or Afriman don't like hard questions, then you're just adding to the apathetic nature of our current society...

Sorry about this :( Our team are investigating the outage now, shouldn't be too much longer.

Sounds like a plan...

We are experiencing high network demand in the South and East (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban), resulting in real time services being affected on Uncapped accounts. This infrastructure is expected to be upgraded within 2 weeks, which will resolve the congestion. We appreciate your understanding whilst we await completion of the upgrade.

Axxess even has an ETA.... How is it Afrihost knows nothing? :wtf:
Is this why i was only able to download a grand total of 43MB via nntp last night over several hours?

Anybody else's connection totally ****ed? Not a single page is loading

Business account

Edit: Working again. Weird, connection never dropped but everything stood still.

Afrihost should really give trial accounts for home uncapped!!! I route through the south and i cant believe it!!! p2p slower than a snail!!! only real time services works fine. It 11:30pm an only 20Kb/s on a 4mb line for p2p. This account is only for browsing and watching movies. How do people uses this account without a vpn? So thank you wingnut771 for letting me see for myself. And afriman your shaper doesn't know what a "stream" is!!!!!! But otherwise the account is amazing and pings are awesum. I really hope you get capacity soon.

No worries mate :)

Like I said, it's a crying shame because AH have all the bells and whistles, except for what really counts, enough bandwidth.

I'm not sure what info Axxess has that we don't. There is every chance that the imminent upgrade could arrive well within that period, but we'd rather not make a commitment that could end up being incorrect like that.

I promise that I will update you guys as soon as I know the upgrade is on the horizon :)

The idea is that we protect priority services so that we deliver the best experience while we wait the additional capacity. While shaping may always be present at times, we hope to be able to deliver more bandwidth for torrents and downloads for a better overall experience - and this has generally been the case when we have upgraded in the past.

That's a bit strange. We didn't see an general drop on the overall network. Perhaps there was a connectivity at the exchange level?

We're definitely not about Bells & whistles (hope that pun is not inappropriate)!

Our aim is to always deliver a personal service, and to treat each client individually as a valued partner in our mutual success. After all, our clients need to succeed and grow in order for us to do the same. Flashy tactics are great for bringing in hordes of new clients to turnover profits, but we're not and will never be about that. Honestly, I would not be here if that were the case. I really appreciate working for a company that is absolutely genuine in what we say and do :)

Well personally I wont go quite that far but as from April I will have a new ISP. Would have been from March actually but I cancelled too late.

Loved Afrihost for many months but the last 2 has been just ridiculous.

:erm:

“We are waiting for Telkom to install this capacity and have been told it will be installed by 10 April,” said Payne.

“To alleviate this ad-hoc ‘step change’ when increasing capacity, we are installing 10Gbps IPC infrastructure in multiple regions which will allow us to increase capacity as and when we need it in future to avoid these type of delays.”
