Crazy latency spikes tonight.

Tracert to afrihost all fine up till last 4 hops...then goes from 20ms to 250ms...and last hop ends on 620ms.

Any issues?

My speeds are also all at 50% streaming youtube.

Posting from tablet.

Changed router to a friends mweb account. Works perfectly.

Changed back to Afri home uncapped. Half speed.

All the proof I need to show problem on Afri's side.

Yea... it seems like it. Hopefully AfriGuy can sort it out :)

I'm not sure what info Axxess has that we don't. There is every chance that the imminent upgrade could arrive well within that period, but we'd rather not make a commitment that could end up being incorrect like that.

I promise that I will update you guys as soon as I know the upgrade is on the horizon :)

But aren't Axxess owned by Afrihost...:wtf:

You really think adding more people to your already failing infrastructure is such a good idea.
Yes sign up to Afrihost so we can mess you around cause we can't actually give you the service you will be paying for...

Strangle last night my line was better than ever, I was getting 500kbps on a 4mb line, everything was perfect not sure if anything changed?

Shhh... Don't let the *if you don't touch wood I will find you" monkey find you :D

We did see some funnies in latency yesterday, mostly in the North. However, they seemed very intermittent and didn't seem to be significantly concerning. We're still investigating though. Let's hope they settle as they tweak the network on MTN's side :)

Ach not a big deal. These latency spikes usually resolve themselves.

Will leave till tomorrow. Just posted in case anyone else also maybe having some weird speed issues.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I really do appreciate it :)

Please post an update when you can or drop me a PM.

As a company, it's difficult to turn away new clients and stop growing when we experience these kind of issues, that are essentially short term. Also, the continued growth is important for us to leverage for cheaper prices (which we pass on to clients) and to motivate for more capacity, and to prove that if we ask for more capacity today, we'll have the clients to utilise the capacity tomorrow. Ordering capacity is not just like making a phone call, we have to provide case studies and statistics to both MTN and Telkom to motivate, so it's a complex process.

I always believe that our clients get the best service in the long term. Today may be difficult, and I'm not denying that, but when we get capacity, our clients enjoy long periods of minimal to no shaping and awesome prices that I believe is pure internet joy - and I think the latter experience far outweighs the former.

I don't often have issues. And on the few occations I do I am a patient person. A couple days of issues does not effect me like some people. Crap can happen.

Speeds resolved themselve btw. Account was back to fighting form when I watched a few vids this morning around 5am.

All good again.

We're always trying to improve the experience with the capacity we have, so the little tweaks do make a difference :)
