Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Yes... and I'm not sure. That first hop from Tygervalley to the Exchange seems a little too high also.

Ja, noted that as well. That's just after a port reset... which helped for all of 1 minute!

Trying to get a speedtest.net result to post, but the test just hangs on download->connecting...

:) We've had some "issues" in Cpt for some time now. I can understand the frustration. It is getting better though. Slowly.

Yeah I get that... but seriously, getting upset with the people who have no control over the problem is not the way to solve it...

So they're doing what's in their power to try to make things better, but you've had it anyway?

Glad you're not my customer.

You got a point, it may well not be in their hands, but they are my service provider... and between them and their upstream providers they are failing to provide what a consider a business class ADSL service.

Oh yes... I didn't mention we use a business account, for which we pay a premium... if it was a home acc I'd probably be more lenient!

Yip, seems to be the case. What annoys me is that Afrihost are giving me the run around... port reset done... them exchange congestion... while clearly it's the IPC! I've pretty much had it with Afrihost & MTN, too many problems, too frequently, too many excuses!

I'm sorry you feel we're giving you the run around. What I did notice that once you ran a port reset your pings improved. We're not getting general reports like this, so we need to investigate further.

Do you not feel Isps should have a backup for problems like these? Mweb didn't with Seacom and came under criticism , I fail to spot the difference here?

Not saying BGE does not understand how everything works (I'm sure he does btw), but as a customer you pay for a service to company X. What happens behind the scenes to make it work is irrelevant. I'm trying to look at it from a non-technical person point of view.

Get your point also. AH should be getting upset with Telkom.

Eventually my speedtest.net results:

Looks like what I experienced early this morning... minus the 900ms ping difference. :D

That's the issue with the Telkom fixed line/LLU/IPC monopoly... no one else can really provide ADSL services but Telkom. Afrihost can choose their upstream provider, but thereafter everyone providing ADSL uses Telkom IPC!

Strangely see no problem from my end.

Telkom sorted out the congested DSLAM I was on Friday, since then all perfect.

I was wasn't talking in terms of another Ipc provider but having enough capacity and the proper systems in place to make sure these things aren't so hard felt by the customers. I feel Afrihosts system can certainly improve , but what do I know perhaps I'm just talking crap.

Honestly, who the hell are you going to route traffic to if IPC is down?

You have no idea what you are talking about

Take a look at these:

Ping tests:

Some ping test attempts on pingtest.net are actually failing... the rest are all D's!

Speedtest, we're running at 3mbps and slowers, on a 10mbps line...

So they only have 1 Ipc, no they will route traffic to jhb and Durban . I'm saying this process should be improved, perhaps save the ad hominems until you understand my point.

I am no expert, but to me it looks like you ADSL line is "shyt"

After Telkom fixed mine and moved me to a new less congested DSLAM past Friday things are again perfect, I struggled the same "shyt"

Heya all,

Need some help..

How do I upgrade from a capped account to the uncapped bundle account??
Clientzone is only giving me the option to upgrade to the unbundled uncapped account.

My line rental is already with Afrihost.

Regards
Malooga

Upgrade to the uncapped
Afterwards you'll have an option to bundle the line and acc
