Looks like there might be an IPC issue in Cape Town again. Our guys are investigating. Will update you guys as soon as I have some info. People in the region will experience very slow throughput and latency until we find the issue or reroute traffic to JHB.

It looks there is another Telkom issue affecting Cape Town IPC. Reports were getting is that other ISPs with IPC in CT are also down. We're waiting for an update from Telkom to decide whether we need to reroute traffic, we'll update affected clients as soon as we have more info.

Sincerely sorry about this, so far it seems to be the same issue which brought the IPC down earlier today. We hope we can have it sorted out in as short a time as possible (or shorter)

Its like the Internet Elves are sabotaging AH..

My router light is still green but windows reports no internet, cell also gets no internet when connected via wifi.

Too afraid to try different account settings as that would require disconnecting

So what's going on here?

Traffic is being rerouted via alternative routes, mostly to JHB, and we're hoping that ADSL service will remain normal. We are shaping traffic to ensure that capacity is not overloaded with the additional demand on those routes, so torrents and downloads will probably be slower across the board. As soon as we have word from Telkom on when the IPC will be restored, we'll post more updates.

So I know this is an unfair question to you guys (AH), but is this going to be a recurring thing? What is Telkom communicating to AH, because ultimately it affects the ISP and their customers. Either they are really unlucky with regards to equipment or they are doing things wrong.

Can't even maintain a 650kb/s stream - on a 10mb line - in Jo'burg thanks to the diverted Cape Town traffic. :(

I think we've had more abysmal failures of DSL in the last 5 months than in the preceding 5 years combined.

As far as I know it's something hardware related failing on their side, so may not even be the IPC cards themselves. I do know that it is most likely the same issue that occurred this morning so I am pretty sure the MTN people are right up their noses to get it properly fixed.

We've definitely had our fair share of challenges recently. With all this character building, I must be close to sainthood now ... ;)

Not sure that any traffic is being routed to Durban - is this a test on a local server or international?
