Traffic is being rerouted via alternative routes, mostly to JHB, and we're hoping that ADSL service will remain normal. We are shaping traffic to ensure that capacity is not overloaded with the additional demand on those routes, so torrents and downloads will probably be slower across the board. As soon as we have word from Telkom on when the IPC will be restored, we'll post more updates.
So I know this is an unfair question to you guys (AH), but is this going to be a recurring thing? What is Telkom communicating to AH, because ultimately it affects the ISP and their customers. Either they are really unlucky with regards to equipment or they are doing things wrong.
Can't even maintain a 650kb/s stream - on a 10mb line - in Jo'burg thanks to the diverted Cape Town traffic.
I think we've had more abysmal failures of DSL in the last 5 months than in the preceding 5 years combined.
