Ah latency. It seems like it was only a month ago that we last met here. Oh wait... it was.

:D

So Telkom are onsite looking at the issue. We were hopeful they might have a temporary solution for now, but it's not looking likely. Chances are it is going to be a long night for the team, but we're obviously going to be watching closely and restoring normal service the minute everything comes back online on Telkom's side. Let's hope they can pull of something amazing and get it sorted quickly :)

Oh well. Away for a couple of days indulging in chocolate eggs and whatnot. Hopefully it'll be sorted when I'm back from the platteland on Tuesday. ;)

Happy Easter.

Thanks for the updates Afriman

@kripstoe Happy Easter to you
@Afriman happy passover to you

If youtube is sucking do the following on mac

sudo ipfw add reject src-ip 173.194.55.0/24 in
sudo ipfw add reject src-ip 206.111.0.0/16 in

And on windows

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Youtube" dir=in action=block remoteip=173.194.55.0/24,206.111.0.0/16 enable=yes

I does work, 10MB/s uncapped bundle and no buffering on 1080

It's like the Internet perfect storm. IPC ****ups, divers cutting cables and a massive DDOS all at once.

Cape Traffic has been routed back to the IPC, looks like all is back to normal. We're monitoring very closely, we're obviously concerned that there could be issues over the long weekend, so we're doing our best to pick up any potential problems as early as possible, so they can be reported to Telkom.

At this stage though, all looks good and ADSL services in CT and souther region should be back to awesome. Also Gauteng (northern) traffic should be improved as the demand from CT users goes back to their IPC.

How are things looking now?

Things seem to be much better this morning...

As usual... I spoke too soon...

And again few minutes later and we're all good:

Hmmmm...

Ok, CT looks back on line - hope this is going to last
There is a looooong weekend ahead ;-)

Those going away - travel safe

Speeds were good again (in JHB), then my connection to Afrihost dropped, and now speeds are down to 30kbps again.

I'm guessing the techies are fiddling!
