Could it be the router? It does support ADSL2+ though...
Your router should adjust to the line sync rate.

And say what? My router mode is g.dmt so that means the DSLAM is not upgraded right?

A Telkom DuoPlus 300w![]()

See what results you get here. Not official Telkom but a pretty good indication of your exchange's speed.
I have an Unblock US account for 5usd per month and a normal netfix account for 8usd per monthHow are you able to stream netflix?![]()
I also have this modem router. It does support G.992.5 (ADSL2+)......
If its not changing from g.dmt, you can manually set it to ADSL_2plus. Go to 'Advance' tab, then 'WAN' and then 'ADSL Modulation', it will then give the option to manually select the modulation type.
Thans Malooga. Tried forcing to ADSL2+, but it just jumps back to g.dmt. I'm assuming this is because of the reason mentioned in my previous post
My ping has gone up again, now to 12 (I have my own TS server, and set it to show my ping). When I initially got the account, the ping was good at sub 10ms on speedtest.net as well as on the TS server. I know that it is not a huge deal, but I like to see pings come down, not go up!
The speedtests initially showed 9ms to newlands server, and 10 to mweb, telkom etc in the cape, now to Newlands they are showing 15ms.
Anyone having similar ping increase? it could be my exchange...
Hey Everyone.
So Ive been running a ping monitor for a few days now and if you look at the graphs below, you can see that pings skyrocket at 12 pm everynight? Afriman, what happens at that time?

Must say good job afriman for giving us first world problems, now where is my yatch?
I'm now getting curious here. I know Seacom is still giving issues, but what performance should I be getting? I have a 2mb uncapped with Afrihost and a Telkom Faster account.
I can stream Netflix and Crackle without issues (Unotelly account). But BBC iPlayer and Hulu is dead slow and has a lot of buffering.
I'll post a speed test later on.
So when am I not going to get 260ms to the UK? Has the issue been sorted?
We're very hopeful that EASSy will be fully restored soon. As in completely repaired and back to optimal performance. We think once this happens we should see a reduction latencies for clients being routed on that path.
If your exchange supports 10mb, then call Telkom and ask them to upgrade you.
Afrihost doesn't use Seacom as a primary undersea cable, so whatever issues Seacom is having, they won't affect your Afrihost account. We'll await your speed tests and trace route posts and see where the problem lies.
