Ok cool so the MTN situation is finally calming down

Look some people still experience problems, but if I look at the growth rate of complaints here i'd say they are isolated :P

I wish it were calming down. It appears to be starting all over again here in Somerset West. My line is syncing perfectly and all router details are the same as always yet this last tracert points to something else flaring up again:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that tracert seems to be pointing to exchange issues.

From your trace it shows the Exchange or DSLAM is congested, this is a Telkom issue and not a MTN or Afrihost.

Telkom replaced a Card on Wednesday afternoon, so I am hoping it is the same problem again. I have never had previous issues with congestion on my line.

Morning / Afternoon MyBB peeps

Just want to give everyone a heads up that I will be retreating to my Fortress of Solitude for a short while. Please make sure if you PM me you also add AfriGirl (or just PM her directly). She'll be taking care of you guys. And of course, we have the Dev team also keeping an eye on things, so you'll be in excellent hands :)

Don't worry I won't be leaving the galaxy (yet) - just taking a breather while everything seems to be running so awesomely on the network!

Shotto ;)

Looks to me like it might be intermittent congestion on your exchange. If you notice the second hop is pretty high, that is traffic reaching the MTN network. From there the results seem to go up and down, indicating there is intermittent latency being introduced with each hop. If there was latency on our ADSL network, it would be a consistently increasing number from the 3rd or 4th hop (or thereabouts)

It seems to be, but do keep in mind that EASSy still isn't 100% as far as I'm aware.

EASSy is offline at the moment, their doing full repair and maintenance to sort out the latency issues. We've actually had better latencies overall since moving over to WACS/SAT3, and we're confident that when EASSy comes back up, it will be as awesome as we've known it to be :)

Can anyone tell me if this is a fault with my exchange or with AH?

Telkom support does not know what I mean by a congested exchange or high latency.

Turn your router off for ten minutes and try again. If they don't understand the basic lingo of their job then just explain it to them. Make sure you have a trace route to supply them with.

Th idiot women told me that its because I am a gamer that is why my ping is high. I had to explain to her what latency and congestion means.
