Erm.
So is that such a good idea?

It's like those radar-operated speed warning signs... people will aim for the high score!

Also, 800GB in 30 days on a 4mb account?!

Afriman, you need thresholds and throttling. I'm sorry, but these people are ****ing it up for everyone.

Nice. Thats why I get 15Kbs download during the day.
Was this all in December? Would be very interesting to see how the January High scores drop.

Whoever makes the top 10 on the list should be banned! Not rewarded! That should be the reward - if you in the top 10 then you get banned!!!!

That is if these numbers are real, as an expert in arts and culture said a while back, "those names look fishy to me. all first names then 2 numbers. all numbers are high numbers from 65 to 89. nothing else.
and petrus65's name comes up twice. very weird."

I see the format has changed now...

Afriman, think we all need a definite date for implementation of IPC. If you say its 3 weeks then fine, if its two months I will have to look for another supplier, the same goes if you are not sure. Please just say one way or another

I'm waiting for a confirmed date. I'll publish as soon as I know. I'm pretty sure it won't be two months though :)

We were using the account holder's name, but realised that for resellers (with multiple accounts) it makes it confusing.

We're using the ADSL account name now. Is anyone here on the list (and prepared to claim his/her bragging rights)?

Afriman - any news on the problem that is causing some of us to only get 10kb/s during the day?

I'd love to hear from one users on the list what their experience is with Afrihost.

According to my calculations some of those figures would only be able to be obtained with users VPN'ing 24/7 or using other paid services to bypass the QoS (Which is easily possible, as many may already know)

Afrihost's service baffles me. I went through their T&C's and could find anything that doesn't allow VPN'ing, yet your network doesn't have the bandwidth to give your users a proper web experience (and yes, that includes a few HTTP downloads). So the serious downloaders that can afford the extra paid services will use them to bypass the QoS, while the majority of users are throttled to browse-only account. Why aren't you painting everyone with the same brush?

Your leaderboards just misinform the public about your uncapped accounts and it reveals gaping holes in your QoS and the way you deal with "bandwidth hogs" while you struggle to provide a proper internet experience

Agree, that leader board is asking for trouble. Showed a colleague and he asked if it's a competition.

It would be really interesting to see a distribution graph of GB downloaded per client. I would have preferred a threshold and throttling approach. At least you know that when you reach a certain point, you have to start slowing down. Has gone from fair usage to free for all.

Agreed.

How the fudge did those people get so many gigs, yet we couldn't even mange 20 kb/s during the day? (And that is not a teething problem, I spoke to co-worker just now who is on Afrihost now). He is getting 20 kb/s during the day.. and full speed in the mornings (on 1 meg line)

I can only LOL..

I struggle to reach 50-60gb a month on my 2mbps(slow speeds during the week and only fine on Saturdays), and looking at the top user of 2mbps doing 414.80 GB doesn't seem right to me.... :(

Have a look at the 384k topguy.

I can't break 5Kb/s for 18hours every day and there are people who hit 250-380gb a month on 1mb. Ek gaan moes iemand lelik bliksem.

I actually agree with this. You're glorifying these guys while other people are having a **** time with their internet?

That's like showing a bunch of starving ethiopians pictures of people eating KFC.
