Im jumping ship, never had worse service before in my life, passing the buck at every opportunity they get, my account is NOT semi-shaped as they claim, internet is so badly throttled during the day (<15gigs used in month), Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Hello MWEB my old friend, i've come to talk with you again...

i'm on my free mweb accoutn now after shaping and throttling rendered my account unusable..

i'm averaging 60 kb/s ..briefly it burst to 145 kb/s...
i have a 4mb line, maybe mweb lost control for 10 mins!

i'm happy with those speeds on a 512 line after the fiasco of a certain ISP.....

yeah, thats right, i'm looking at you Afrihost!

I just got throttled on my 384 AH account after 14GB. I thought people saying that it becomes unusable were exaggerating...they weren't. So much for hundreds of GBs, 200GB, 60GB, 30GB, 15GB...

So...looks like I will have to go to MWEB :(

Apparently slow speeds experienced today are to due faults with IS....which have been coming and going since uncapped was launched/

I'd care if they even bothered to pretend to communicate with their customers.

If they won't tell you why they are giving us ****ty service, then they are a ****ty company regardless of the cause. Speeds have been terrible for days now, and not a word from Afrihost.

Network Notice
All IS-linked services will experience slow responses due to an upstream issue. ETR is unknown at present, but we will update this notification as soon as we have more information.

That may be ONE of the reasons, since one of the internet connections at the university is supplied by IS was HORRIBLE yesterday. Average 5kb/s when the maximum per user is around 30kb/s. The SEACOM/TENET connection had no problems.

Problem is that when I switch from my AH "uncapped" account to another IS prepaid account I get linespeed on all protocols. Which means that at the time of doing both tests my line, router and IS is fine leaving AH the culprit.

This is bull ****. How can they throttle a 384 account? it's like going back to old school ISDN. I did 1GB a day since the beginnig of the month until 2 days ago, when the speeds dropped and get timeout at 30MB if I am downloading something at peak speeds of 10kb/s. Might as well rename it to 384 = 15GB.

I am jumping ship, "Nahh nahh nahh nahh, hey hey hey goodbye"

The moment I hit 30 gig, It went from 3.5mbs to 0.40kbs.

And did their CEO state that once you hit 30 gig, they will 'shape it ? some'... my ass that is full on gimping.

Cancelling also.

I just hit 60gigs and I'm now downloading at 384 instead of 1mbit like their policy is stating. So yeah. I will keep on saying it. Bunch of criminals who doesn't stick to what they say or promise. Cancelling before this day is over.

Since I have moved to Openweb, there have been one or two hiccups in the beginning; professionally dealt with by them. And since they now don't fully rely on IS, I am receiving the same quality downloads as I had on my solution with Afrihost before they went down. Gian and his team have no excuse, they failed to plan and failed they have!

Exact same thing here I'm also on a 384k uncapped account, I was quite surprised to see another person experiencing this same thing, as soon as I went over 15 gigs 2 days ago, all of a sudden nothing downloads faster than 10kb/s.

Farewell afrihost :)
