i agree, but it doesn't mean they have to 'stick head in the ground' here. Just 'we are working on it' vs complete silence would go a long way, you think? Or atleast something without getting into the 'trolls'.

Anyways just an opinion. Happy downloading :)
People make mistakes Necuno :) AH screwed up, we all know that. But what happens if they respond with "we are working on it", and the barbaric mob jumps on them again telling them to stop being so vague and to be more specific? Then we're back to square one again.

The point is that no company wants to respond on a platform where they're allowed to be slandered.

Right now things are going good for Mweb - but I guarantee you that when the service degrades (as is currently happening), the mob will be out in full force again (it's already starting with people like Tanya35) and then Mweb's presence here will disappear too.

Instead we should be working with the ISPs on the best way forward for all parties. Alienating them just leaves us out of the loop and in the dark.

I regularly download off rapidshare and last night for the first time my downloads were crawling at 10-20KB/s.However at 12.00.am exactly my speeds shot up to 450KB/s.Not sure if they have targeted RS per se but there have obviously been a few tweaks to their FUP in last day or so.

I have downloaded 55GB's so far.

Maybe they realised that there's just no way to please a mob, no matter what you say.

Yeah they screwed up, but I think that some people went a bit over the top. If people are not happy with the product, they should talk with their wallets and move elsewhere, then move back when they improve their offering after having lost customers. That will teach AH a lesson far better than publicly chastising them, and they would respond by improving their offering to get you back. Everyone wins in the end.

The same thing happened with Webafrica - there were understandably some angry customers a few months back and that's fine. But some people went as far as to personally attack Matt. Stuff like that is not on IMO, so it's no wonder that they're not very active here anymore either.
well said !

obviously we all do and no one said they are perfect, but still you can respond in a thread to those who need it and still ignore the rest that wants to mob you imho.

Right now things are going good for Mweb - but I guarantee you that when the service degrades (as is currently happening), the mob will be out in full force again (it's already starting with people like Tanya35) and then Mweb's presence here will disappear too.
with too many monkeys in the tree it's bound to happen; hence reason why syntech couldn't keep to their wireless uncapped and had to revert to capped and in the end closed them all.

Instead we should be working with the ISPs on the best way forward for all parties. Alienating them just leaves us out of the loop and in the dark.
and them alienating us is ok? quick look back to flagship studios shows that one must at all times communicate with your clientele publicly to keep healthy relationships without going 'silence is golden treatment'.

this doesn't mean as i've already stated you should give in to the mob, but rather respond to them creatively till that child's energy has ran out. do you see each time someone say openweb suck they run for the hills and go STFU? no mrBeep comes and reply rather creatively which normally takes the winds instantly out of that child's sails...

Openweb local only accounts work OK, as for KEOMA and team - their support sucks!

Hi Khahn,

I am sorry to hear that you feel our support 'sucks'.

We will definitely take this comment to heart, and improve our support channels where we can.

Your feedback, and constructive comments are appreciated.

Kind regards

My speeds went back to normal after 8 last night. Are the restrictions only during office hours?

I am also waiting for this information!! Seems to be BS to me.

I think I may have started this 100 gig rumor. I called afrihost and was told by a guy named Mark that shaping is now only after 100gig. He said it was a new policy they have just released. Clearly i was wrong as they have stopped our VPN tool from working between 7am and 5pm.

I have offered them till the close of business today to get it sorted, if not, bye bye afrihost.

Download speeds really have improved, I was throttled to 1meg at first after reaching 60gb and I didn't mind but I’m glad they relaxed the throttling and shaping of certain protocols.

I’ve now done 92GB on my 4meg account for the month and I’m still downloading at full speed 420kb/s + :)

Since i've reached 40GB my speed has dropped to 50KB/s and when I was at 30GB speed was erratic couldnt get close to 200KB/s, this krappy throttling has made me cancel my account and will now try out mweb for May.

The TCs has been updated again:

I think it is a pretty good deal for medium usage.

For 4Mb/s
After you have moved 50 GBs you will be moved into a different category whereby certain ports will be shaped more aggressively. However, web and email will still be prioritised.

After moving a total of 100 GBs you will be moved into a different category where your line speed is throttled to 1024 kbps per second and certain shaping protocols are in place.

After moving a total of 150 GBs then you will be moved into a category where you will be throttled to 512 kbps. Certain shaping protocols will also be in place here.

After moving a total of 200 GBs you will be moved into a category where your line will be throttled to 386 kbps. Certain shaping protocols will also be in place here.

After moving a total of 250 GBs you will be moved into a category where you are throttled to 128 kbps.

For 384:
After you have moved 20 GBs you will be moved into a different category whereby certain ports will be shaped more aggressively. However, web and email will still be prioritised.

After moving a total of 40 GBs you will be moved into a different category where your line speed is throttled to 256 kbps per second and certain shaping protocols are in place.

After moving a total of 60 GBs then you will be moved into a category where you will be throttled to 128 kbps. Certain shaping protocols will also be in place here.
