Definitely a 4meg line, no way he did that much downloading on a 384k line.

Afrihost's usage policy for an Uncapped 384k account...

This is how we are currently dealing with our Uncapped 384kbps accounts:

On signing up to our Uncapped product you will get our standard ADSL service. (i.e. certain ports are shaped somewhat and web and email are prioritised.)

After you have moved 20 GBs you will be moved into a different category whereby certain ports will be shaped more aggressively. However, web and email will still be prioritised.

After moving a total of 40 GBs you will be moved into a different category where your line speed is throttled to 256 kbps per second and certain shaping protocols are in place.

After moving a total of 60 GBs then you will be moved into a category where you will be throttled to 128 kbps. Certain shaping protocols will also be in place here.

You will never be capped.

If you use this account for heavy downloading then you WILL be throttled at some point in the month so please think about whether this account is for you.

Download tally sitting at 132.5GB. Not bad... definetly gonna hit 150GB by monday... All the main series ending, wont have much to download next month :(

140GB downloaded this month so far.... 2 days still to goto... 150GB mark is fast approaching

Yeah no worries here either... haven't even hit 50GB this month i've had so little to download!! It's fantastic....

^^ Yup Afrihost is really giving me my money's worth with my 4meg uncapped account, I've only received great service and speeds from them :)

My Downloads for the month are sitting on 126 GB with my line now throttled to 1meg, speed are ranging between 150kb/s to 200kb/s for p2p and http downloads and Youtube still buffers nicely ;)

I used 190gbs last month on my 2meg line,Im very happy ,but now I have nothing to download.

Latency is quite bad tonight to the States (Dallas Datacentre, WoW US Stormrage). Couple of other colleagues have complained about similar issues on other IS based accounts but I don't see any recent notices on the IS site. Could this be due to the SEACOM change scheduled for tonight?

Hey guys,

I am at odds choosing my next ISP after cybersmart giving me the boot from their uncapped offer.
Planning to go the 4mb route with either MWEB or Afrihost. I cant really compare the forums as it has people that are having good and bad speeds on both...

I mostly want it to download the latest anime, and i use rapidshare for that. How is Afrihosts speeds with rapidshare premium? (during and after office hours)

Between 0-50 gigs I have consistently got +400KB/s.
Between 50-100 gigs I have consistently got +200KB/s
This is after 8.00.pm.No idea what it is like before 8

MWEB shapes the cr@p out of Rapidshare, some days you can only get 20KB on 4mb uncapped, after hours is ok though (but I never full speed)!

31GB on 384k line for May, I reached my target, but I can go further as at one point I peaked to 2.5GB in one day, this month's target is 40GB

Been really impressed was always on 3G then finally got my line and decided to go with a 512line and the uncapped package and so far I am really impressed , easy to setup and have had stable speeds all month!

Customer service and support are top notch as well!
