What a F up.... I switched off my uncapped line all weekend, This morning I switch on and i get this:
846596231.png

as to my complaint for severe throttling, this was their response:

Thanks for the mail, i have checked your account and see that you are currently being throttled as it is only the 11th of the month and you are already on 77.5 gig for the month and based on the projected download this month your account has been throttle.

What i can suggest is that you try to minimize your downloads for the week and weekend as you slow down your speed will increase as you download more the speed will drop based on your projected amount of gig in this month.

Wow, so they work on projected totals now? So what if you are going to be away for weeks 2/3/4 of the month and want to get all your stuff done in the first week?

Just run another speedtest now after being on the phone to another techie (who agrees that something is wrong and does not know about this "projected total" story), he's going to try get more clarity on the situation. I am still throttled, but to 1024kBs at the moment. Personaly I feel that any changes to "Terms and Conditions" as well as the "FUP" should be communicated to clients, so that we can make informed decisions on product choice.

So after some bitching and moaning, I have gone from 128kbps to 512kbps then some more bitching, been bumped up to 1.8mbps. I am very unhappy about this new projection setup. Worst thing is the lack of communication to clients. I am waiting for feedback on this. But it would be my guess that the FAQ page on Afrihost is going to be updated very soon with this new "non-feature" for data use projecting.

Seems like all of the 4096 accounts are shaped to hell and back. I am quite impressed with my 384 uncapped account though :D

So in 10 minutes there has been such a radical change. Did you run another speedtest after this one? The reason I ask is that sometimes the first one I run is terrible; test again and then it is fine, so for me have to say one is not always accurate.

Spoke to one of the support guys at Afrihost about this "data projecting" and he denies any existence of it.According to him the FUP currently being implemented is the one that is on their website ie 50GB then 100 GB etc etc.
Needless to say it would be nice to have the presence of one of the senior Afrihost reps available on this forum to clear up all this confusion.

I should also add that he did admit that there is a congestion problem with their 4meg uncapped product which they are attending to
