Afrihost Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

hey guys, just checking in
done 295gbs this month so far.... mweb uncapped :D
enjoy your afrifail 20gb accounts!

if do not depend on torrents to download so much then MWEB is your win, uncapped shaped doesn't work on torrents

Yippee, 20GB on the is.afrihost and being throttled again.

To recap, I did 25GB on normal Afrihost and was throttled to 5KB/s, I managed to slug it out all the way to 29GB when finally I had to complain. Got moved to is.afrihost, thought I was throttled after 5gb but it seems it was some line fault on their side, but alas after 19GB I am once again throttled, for now I am getting 15KB/s, for how long remains to be seen.

Unless this is another line fault - who knows, us clients are always last to find out.

(384Kb line, Afrihost "uncapped" - not for long though, making plans to move to OpenWeb)

I use MWEB uncapped and download torrents. During the day it drops to between 10kb/s - 20kb/s. I tend to download through the night where it goes to 170kb/s on my 4mb adsl (2.5mb sync). I am not a heavy, heavy user 60gb per month. I have been happy since I changed from Afrihost and have no real complaints about MWEB, of cause I would like 170kb/s during the day but do not care that much since the main downloading is done at night.

For the same price, if you can compromise 10gb and return to 50gb capped/unshaped and download between 200-620KB/s any time of the day, then Afrihost is for you. Two nights ago i hit a record of 620KB/s on torrents, unbelievable ...

@sonxEr77 - exactly what I did, and I get full line speed anytime of the day :)

been bounced onto is.africrap.co.za, was told I would experience great bandwith, lol yeah right - so where to now? any recommendations welcome.

how to slowly lose customers and eventually your business -> bounce them over to IS when they are using too much bandwidth - hope you are listening Gian!

crap? whats that ....an avg. of 500KB/s torrent download, :/

its just the **** attitude of Africrap:

1. Bumped over to IS with the false promises of quicker response times (never believed this from the start).
2. Online dashboard does not work so i send a ticket, incompetent techie tells me he cant help me (gotta love good service)
3. Told to use IS dashboard - cannot login using credentials

This is all within 24 hrs. Seriously I really had some faith in them, but just shows how you can lose 1 customer in 24 hrs. I will ensure that clients of mine, colleagues and friends do not touch Africrap

How possible is this. I downloaded an mp3 (243MB) file straight from firefox using DownloadHelper plugin. For the first 5 seconds, is showed a download rate of 1MBps, then slowing dropped to 800KBps and cruised at 100KBps... I'm on 4mbps line, strange but exciting for few seconds there

22h20 at night and getting incredible speeds of 6.72kbps downloading http on a 384kbps line. Took just under 12 minutes to download a 2.9MB email (I thought email traffic gets top priority). I am so happy with my afrihost 384k uncapped I think I'll go and kick my dog.

16h05 the kids can't load a simple little game on the Barbie website! Obviously the Barbie website is for hardcore gamers like my two girls, 4 and 7 years old. They are such abusers of bandwidth I am ssoooooo ashamed of them. Switched onto my Afrihost capped account and no problem, everything flies.
