Afrihost unshaped

Hi all,

Am busy ISP shopping at the moment and after originally being super keen on uncapped have been put off by all the talk of shaping issues I've seen on here (here's looking at you mweb)

So, after doing not very much research I came across the afrihost unsnapped capped options - prices seem reasonable and I'd rather have 50gb of unshaped decent connection per month than "unlimited" bull**** access.

So, is there anything I should know about the offering? Is it as good as it looks or is it crap like pretty much everything else we seem to have here in SA?

I use a 50gb gold afrihost account and it is solid. No hidden agenda there. You get what you pay for and at R9.50 per gig it's pretty good value. I'm fortunate to have a 10mb line and the unshaped bandwidth runs at max speed 24/7. Very nice.
 
I used to have their 30gb+30gb for R580 per month. I would say it was 99% unshaped the only problem was with youtube some times it would buffer on my 4mb line, but if I switched to my telkom account no problems- guessing that it might be an IS problem rather. Otherwise downloads\torrents would run a full line speed.

Take Openweb GOLD if you don't want issues with uncapped.
 
Afrihost unshapped capped performs exactly as the name suggests. I've been using their 50GB account paired with Openweb uncapped and its been awesome

Only on their uncapped - which I must add seems to be working on Steam & Youtube (completely forgot those aren't fubar). Just in time for the Steam Summer Sales :D

My capped works just fine.

I also did not like how they handled solving a problem for a client here, even posting the guy's personal details.... (TRL)
