Maybe it's a job-swop! Maybe it's secretly a reality TV show.
AKC moves from M&R to Cell C.
Lars moves from Cell C to... ???.. We know he's leaving the telecomms industry.

I vote he's going to M&R and taking AKC's job :D

See earlier post wrt to clients vs shareholders being happy.
No doubt he built VC from the ground up to the behemoth it is now. But the client has always been in for a major screwing:
The debated collusion between MTN & VC for so many years.
The legacy of inflated prices.
The raising of MTR's when CellC entered the market.
The family member he sent for magician's classes/lessons in the USA :rolleyes:

...the list goes on.
Bottom line - he keeps a company in the black, but the consumers will be seeing Red!

I am sure the AKC-brand is more important to him than either VC or CC. He cannot afford to not give his best in his new job. Its like a pro sportsman - you do your best for the team you are playing with, even against your old team (well, at least he is not called Alan Habana!)

All fair points but he is now faced with a very different challenge which will require a wholly different approach

Could be after all the denials and rumors. Or maybe just CellC trying to get under VC skin.

Just fix the terrible signal can't even keep constant connection on edge on my BB - prefer it when my cell swaps on to Vodacom roaming then I at least know I can make and receive calls and use the phone to browse the net. Their so called stronger signal can't even make it into Pick n Pay greenstone..... or most woolworths food stores. Also would be nice if the forum rep actually gets back to a person..

So we can expect a new, creepy looking, cartoon character dancing to some lame pop song on our TV soon to entice the young and the dumb over to CellC.

Gone will be the cheaper, more innovative products.

That in itself is a mystery :/

In fairness though, I've had an issue with their data/BB side more than voice.

Apart from data performance, their pricing has been terrible in comparision and yet people flock to sign up with them. I'm not sure if they're ignorant as to what's out there or what. I'm lucky because I 'know' Vodacom folk on the forum that can assist with my queries and problems ... but without you guys to help, ther customer service isn't great either.

I mean 2GB at R349.00 (exclcuding these one off promotions) or 10GB at R199.00 (8ta) - and you still find people taking the former. In the last 6 months I've used 60GB and paid R1,194.00 for the pleasure. That same 60GB on Vodacom would be over R10,000.00

In a nutshel ... performance below par, costly and no real customer service - yet they thrive.
 
The poison Ivy licker is back :( (The dude said the corrupt dead Ivy was good for telecoms in SA.... yeah, cause she kept his cartel running) This could only be bad for consumers. He is really really good for shareholders, but always at the expense of the stakeholders.

I'm quite happy this happened. Considering his health and age i don't think its about money for him at this point; he is likely concerned with his legacy and will probably use cell c to push the telecommunications situation in this country forward. He is clearly a very good businessman with the experience required to make big things happen. Leaving his job at vodacom likely brought quite a few things into perspective for him.

This is good news.

I've always been is extremely intrigued by the concept of a retired leader getting another chance to kick some rear end after realizing kicking rear end was so much damn fun, especially if its your old team.
