Mmm. Small size and good build quality. Sounds delicious and will shell out shortly for a Shelly.

My #1 concern is security and want absolutely no chance of this device phoning home to China or anywhere else, nor opening any backdoors or rat-holes.

 Then take it off the cloud and MQTT into home assistant, or use the Shelly app, or google home

Shelly.cloud is hosted on GCP with global availability zones, so secure as they come

Mi IoT devices are on their own network - which doesn't have direct internet access - everything is interfaced through home-assistant. Might not be the most secure, but its one step closer - I don't see any "foreign" outbound traffic in my reports.

When will this be in SA ..?

I have looked at Takealot and website few things a like cant wait for more products to be added we have been very limited in SA to these type of devices.
Hi mrlgm007, end May for the Shelly D/W

Hi ShellySA

I am very excited about the local supply of the Shelly brand. I wanted to ask if you know if the Shelly supports the Hubitat Elevation . I have this running my home automation and currently using a lot of Sonoff devices, but would really like to start using Shelly's. Will start with the Shelly 1pm for my 2 geysers.

Also I have a grid tie inverter which I was hoping to maybe use a Shelly 1pm to monitor the power being produced by the solar, this in-turn could then turn on the other Shelly 1pm for the geyser only when there is enough solar being produced so that I don't have to pay Eskom (;)) Do you think this is possible?

Ok got my shelly 1PM but the manual is a bit confusing. In my world + means live and - means neutral. In the Shelly manual it is the other way round:

We regret to inform users that Shelly SA's, Takealot store has been suspended by it's compliance office, pending the outcome of ICASA certification to all listed products for sale.

We anticipated backlash launching on this forum and would like to state that Shelly South Africa does not subscribe to slander, manipulation and tactics of capitalist bullying of any kind.

The creation of this thread, a continuation of our European and US social media threads and a requirement of our CEO, Dimitar Dimitrov, to be of a technical nature, to educate and have new and existing users excited about IoT and Shelly's contribution to this Industry.

We apologize for placing the cart before the hoarse and will expedite local certification in conjunction with CE and UL listings.

We will continue tech matters, to "all things Shelly."

Hi ShellySA

I can't believe it, I had the Shelly 1pm in the Takealot cart, I went to click to check out and it said no stock available. I hope you guys are back up and selling in no time. I am really excited to start using these Shelly products. Good luck, I hope the certification wont take too long.

Hi Greglsh,

Depends on your Geyser elements, what is the Kw rating for each?

For grid tie, you would need Shelly EM with a couple of 50 amp coils

Here's a brochure link
