Yes! Happens to me for a day or three (not always in a row) every couple of weeks. Just as I start to relax assuming it was a once off, it happens again. 4 days messed up in July.

Mostly the load and import values go awol. Had PV reset to zero one day in July - that was a first...

Interestingly, the totals under custom/detail reporting on the "plant" side (at least in my case) whether in app or web, are not losing count, so now my total produced, imported and total load values according to monthly and annual graphs ("Overview" side) are less than when custom reporting and setting parameters...

Frustrates the heck out of me since the ROI calcs are based on the overview numbers and theorenit loses count, the less accurate all of it becomes.

Someone suggested firmware update which I haven't done to date. Not sure what difference that could make though since overall numbers are logically logged one way and portal should account for the rest.

I think this is a glitch on Sunsynk portal side. Called the help desk and tried to explain, but only very generic "contact your installer" responses followed.

Installer obviously has no clue what causes this and in their mind system is all good unless it's going up in flames.

Sunsynk 8kW with firmware:
M 6.0.2.1 / S 1.7.2.4 / C E.4.2.6

Interesting, thanks for the feedback, it has only ever happened once to me besides the data 'lost' due to the region change. I manually corrected what I could or needed to and am keeping my own records of data to avoid further issues as much possible.

Just be careful with anything abrasive - if there is sand on the panels or bird strike, you could end up scratching your panels.

Those panels can handle pretty hectic hail. I'm pretty sure a little washing isn't going to do any damage. Obviously, if you're scrubbing them with metal wool that might be a problem, but a little love with a window squeegee should be just fine.
 
So we had no grid supply for 4 days and the Sunsynk inverter worked well for the 3 days.

On the 3rd day, the internet connection died and I noticed that the screen displayed incorrect info i.e the charge/dishcharge values were at 0/0 when it should be at about 6.5/6

Even the PV values were at 0.5 when it should reflect about 15kw

At around 3pm on the 4th day, the internet connection was restored and the screen started reflecting correct data.

Checked again this morning and the info matches to what is being consumed.

Is the inverter dependent on an internet connection to sync to display accurate data?
Anyone else had a similar issue and what did you do to resolve it?

100% agreed - haven't tested it out yet.

I just feel that a hail strike is a direct impact as opposed to a 'scrubbing' effect - but that's just my mad scientist brain! I could be completely off the mark here.

My thinking was along the same lines as washing the sand off glass before scrubbing, because the sand is abrasive and may result in damage when scrubbed against an object (think sand blasting but on a tiny scale :P)
 
Question - Will my solar array only produce up to the charge amps of my battery?

So even if my array is capable of more, it will be clipped to my battery charge amperage?

Provided the MPPT controller (usually built into the inverter) is aware of that maximum current then yes it should. If it's not aware, you need to make sure it is.

The reason for my question is precisely that.

I have a 4.4kwP array and producing less than half (1.2kwP) on average during the month. I would expect more but if its being clipped due to my battery charge then it would make sense.

That is what my installer tells me. Tells me I need an additional battery to generate more.

What is your maximum charge current as set on the Sunsynk inverter (under settings - Battery)?
On a full sun day when battery is charging, take a look at the output of the panels, then turn the kettle or other high power device on. Do the panels start outputting more or does it draw all the extra demand from Eskom?

It's also unlikely you're producing at full capacity in winter.

No, they don't. It just starts using battery to balance the load.

OK, if it's using battery (or Eskom) then the panels are producing their max for the amount of sun they're currently getting. The system will not allow Eskom or the battery to be consumed when there's solar available. That will go up in summer at midday.

How big is each battery and how big is the total bank?

100 Ah at 0.5C would be 50A. And 50A x 48V should be getting you 2,400W.

My battery is 100ah at 1C. One battery in the bank at 5.2kw

That is exactly my point. My battery is not full. It’s charging and there is peak winter sun in CT these past three days.
