I think I am going to charge to 100% today and do the cell rebalancing. Otherwise It might've been a miscommunication between the BMS and the inverter so will maybe do a firmware upgrade on both battery and inverter.

Not that quickly. Something definitely odd there, no way it should drain the battery UNLESS your battery has the old SOC drift I moan about and it wasn't really at 50%. Can you see your battery voltage at the time? When outputting high , the voltage is at a lower state but it also recover a bit to the correct level once that drops.

ie: If I run at about 1KVA and my voltage is 49V and it drops about 0.03V per minute of consumption at 1KVA, then I would expect in five minutes my voltage to be 48.75V but if I have a high output at say 4KVA not only will I suffer the drop in voltage from the actual energy discharged but there is a temporary higher loss. So it runs for 2 mins at the high rating, the voltage reading will actually reflect 48.5V while outputting high or slightly lower but will return to the similar voltage it would be at 1KVA when the draw lessens, minus the energy expected discharge loss of voltage ( 48.75V ).


Voltage was pretty constant throughout.

Depending on your battery, 46V is not 50%. That uptick, what was the level at transition? 44? 43.5? That's a common shutdown level by the BMS in some lithium's.

My personal example, if my AM2 hits 43.5V, my system goes into recovery, regardless of the inverter SOC. My real 50% voltage is 47.77V, if my batteries were correctly topped up in the previous period.

Does your SOC show a crash or just a drain? If its just a drain, check your time of work schedule.
 
When it's loadshedding and night time, and a load is running off only the battery, will the deye/ss inverter trip when the load exceeds the discharge amps setting or the bms max discharge amps?
Feel like the discharge amps setting (or the lower of the 2 rather), but not willing to test this one. :)
In my experience the lower of the 2, although ive only ever had 1 trip when I fired up the kettle and airfryer and base load of my house during loadshedding.

But odd that you didnt actually use any "SOC", mine would normally crash if it was in use, your SOC is constant so your batteries should be "resting". With the declining voltage, you might have a short.

Resting my battery loses very little, nowhere near a volt, only millivolts.

It was 45.1V. So what do you recommend? A top-up to 100% to rebalance?

Mine did that but from 24%, not 50%.
Turns out the inverter was not talking to the battery properly - the installer hadn't set the dip switches on the bottom of the AM2 correctly. Once I got that sorted out, I haven't had a problem.
The giveaway was that the inverter thought the battery temp was -100C.
 
Something weird happend this morning and I am not sure why:

Battery was at 50% SOC as per settings. Until the geyser kicked in and drained the battery even though we had grid power.

I think it may be because I have priority load ticked instead of priority battery. Can anyone please confirm?

Anybody else's Sunsynk inverter stats 'reset' on their inverter, phone app and web portal? Mine was going fine and then reset earlier today but only for stats for today...

P.S. I am still missing large amounts of data due to the region move though :rolleyes:
 
Ok, today I saw something very strange, a bit worrying too if I'm honest.

So there was an OpenServe fibre outage in the Pretoria area today (it's still out) and my router is set up with backup WAN to use Vodacom when fibre is down.

I was in Home Assistant and noticed that there was a spike in grid usage for a few minutes and it was pushing that power into the battery. The SOC was above 80% and the timer was on, so there was no need for that to happen.

And then I realised that the time that this happened was right when the internet went down.

Thank goodness for Home Assistant where I can plot these things and see patterns.

It started off as normal with the battery powering the house. Then fibre went down and (maybe coincidentally?) the inverter started pulling from grid for a few minutes and pumping it into the battery. Then it stopped but the house was now running using grid alone. Then just before 7pm it flipped back to how it should've been with battery taking over again.

Anyone see anything like this before?

I've only had prepaid now for a week.

My first purchase was R1 000 on 24 July and received 285 units.

My second purchase today and I received more units while still only buying R1 000.

I've not used everything from the first purchase as I want to buy every month the first 600 units only to build up credit for next year winter. I was expecting to get the same number of units, maybe a bit less but not more.

Does CoCT have a connection fee which is deducted from the first purchase?
 
One of the reasons I have no desire to move from Eskom to CoCT - I worked out our grid supplied electricity will be considerably more, especially in summer when we don't use it.
