LiFePO4 batteries boast twice the lifespan and improved fire safety, albeit with a slightly higher price tag. I wasn't aware of the slower charge rate.I would imagine that it is charge rate. AM2s are 1C batteries, allowing the 5K Sunsynk to charge them at over 100amps. This means that the battery capacity can be recovered quickly between load shedding cycles, even at stage 8 ( where we start to see 2.5 hour gaps between load shedding cycles).
There is nothing wrong with NMC, the same chemistry is used by the Tesla Powerwall which is considered the gold standard. There are also some 4th gen NMC batteries available today that give excellent performance.
My installer cautioned against using Sunsynk batteries, suggesting they only allow the battery to be claimed for battery-specific purposes. I'm uncertain about the accuracy of this claim, though.
