I currently have a Mecer 2000VA UPS that uses ViewPoint software which I have loaded on my microserver to monitor things

ViewPoint makes use of Flash which is no longer supported from December 2019 I am told

Can anyone recommend alternative software for this UPS to use as not sure when Flash won't be usable at all?

Flash support will end on Dec 2020

UPS Assistant

UPS Tools

The Mecer 2000VA should work with the blazer_usb protocol under NUT Tools.
Thanks

Does UPS Assistant support shutting down the UPS as well or does it only shutdown the PC? If it does, which setting do I enable for UPS shutdown?

bump.

Can anyone share your configuration (screenshots) for UPS Assistant or a guide?

I have it installed on a PC but can seem to get it to switch off the UPS. I'm using a Mecer 600va UPS.

Thanks.. Do I need to click on the green start button as well or will it always be monitoring the power status?

All our UPS are Mecer UPS and on the PC I was testing the software on, wasn't shutting down. Are there any other settings I need to change?

Also how do I enable the "Force Shutdown", I played around with the three settings, but it's always greyed out.

Did not keep it on my system long enough to test the other functions, busy looking for other solutions as the app has to be running got to be running for it to "function". Looking for something that run as a service.

Will let you know if I find something better.

NUT is also a no go as the Device driver will not install and the USB lib from Sourceforge req me to turn off signed driver support, something I'm not willing to do on a server right now.

Nope no luck,

Back on Viepower from (https://www.power-software-download.com/viewpower.html)

My issue is that I also have Linux (PBX) and (VM Hosts) on Mecer UPS's so not really willing to run a mixed bag of tools. Might look at budget during the year and instead of replacing batteries I'm going to look for other brand or might ever go to Lithium deep cycle.....

Thanks, please keep us updated on this thread.

I dislike viewpower because of the flash requirement. UPS Assistant seems like a good alternative, if I can get it to work. It's a pretty light weight app, so I don't mind having it running all the time.

I also read about running NUT on a Raspberry Pi, and sending remote shutdown to the PC's, but still have to read up on it.. My main need is for single PC setups as we manage multiple locations, so I can't use this option everywhere.

The current version of ViewPower only sees my one UPS, previously it would see both. My RTC one works, my Proline - no dice.

Both UPS devices are present, only one seems to work :

Works well on raspberry pi connected to RCT UPS:

You would think someone would have made a proper alternative by now..... viewpower is terrible half the time.

I'm using UPS Assistant with my Mecer UPS

I couldn't get the email warning to work but created a .bat file that runs PowerShell to send me an email

I don't think that my UPS is compatible with the UPS shutdown command so that doesn't work

Otherwise UPS Assistant works fine for what I need

When it comes time to replacing the batteries, I may look at buying a new UPS with better software

Any suggestions for a better UPS and software?
