Amazon.co.za is live

So my book (ordered last Tuesday) has still not come. When I ordered, it said 2-8 business days, which according to my calendar means tomorrow (I ordered on Tuesday morning so counting that as a day).

Placed order yesterday, got delivered today- as advertised. Haven't checked the package yet to see if the right stuff was delivered, will do later tonight.

Results of my Amazon vs Takealot competition.

Both orders arrived today. Takealot order got delivered at around 15:00. Courier Guy didn't arrive until after I left work. Thankfully someone was there to accept the package on my behalf. At least it got here on the promised date.

One weird thing is that Takealot sent me 6 boxes for 8 items. Each item was packaged in it's own delivery box except for 3 items which were combined into one box. All of these were small items that could easily have fitted into one box.

Gripe with Amazon is that the packaging tape they are using isn't the greatest. This package was secure, but previous package had the tape come undone.

Right product, wrong colour. Ordered onr with a black cover, they delivered a teal or some weird colour. Wife said she likes it so gonna leave it at that.

Don't see them going anywhere, they're well established. If Amazon play their cards right though, TA won't have it all their own way anymore. This should probably be a good thing.
Smaller online stores may eventually not last yes, I guess the system of them just then selling on Amazon as in other regions may then become the norm.
That's a great analysis. Competition keeps the consumer happy

Anyone know what happened to all the TVs on Amazon, they started with some great deals, now the TVs disappeared

Got my books (that were meant to be delivered on Thursday) today.

The one hardcover has scuffs/tears on all four corners. Pity since it cost R1500.

Decided it's not worth the environmental impact to ship back and replace so leaving as is.

Hahaha, you guys clearly haven’t started experiencing the Amazon packaging meme yet! Oh, it’s amazing! You order razor blades, and it arrives in a box big enough for an air fryer, stuffed with brown paper. The people working in the packing area do NOT give a ****.

Have you not ordered from Take A Lot before.... ?

So how long they will last is different to going away ?
Okay for clarity sake what I meant was will they be able to handle the new competition, without eventually folding one day? If ever?

Most recent order from Amazon UK - LEGO box was stuffed into a box barely bigger than the LEGO box itself, and all of it was stuffed into an Amazon locker barely bigger than the cardboard box.

Takealot is bad, I’ll order 3 tiny items in one order all from the same DC and they ship in 3 separate boxes. Apparently if the item location in the wharehouse is too far from the other items it’s more efficient to pack and ship them separately than traipse all over to ship in one box.
