Amazon Kindle for SA

im still using amazon+proxy and then using an SA credit-card on an SA account to generate a largeish voucher, then i switch to my "US" account and redeem the voucher and then I just buy straight off the Kindle. The wireless book delivery for me was 50% of the reason for buying a Kindle, so I see no point in using USB. in fact never connected it yet.

I immediately transfer any books to my online storage backup (Ubuntu One). I am using an SA credit card, and so far, so good. But it could of course go the same way as Amazon.

Mmm. I should take a chance and try this. Just to make sure. You've got the country set to US and in checkout you have a US delivery address and pay via a SA CC.

The book prices seem decent as well, and even if the book is more expensive, you get a "micropay rebate" on most books, which you can then use to buy more books. You can also pay via PayPal if they close the credit card loop, but so far I haven't had an issue.

And yes, I chose a US billing address, and I'm using a standard bank credit card.

What cover did you try to buy? I have the same problem - got one for Chirstmas but didn't get a cover. I see there are hundreds of covers below < $30?

Can't really say I have an issue with the Kindle "watching" me...

Like Herbert says, it will hopefully be able to suggest books that I might enjoy which I would otherwise have missed.

Those of you who shop at Fictionwise might find this very useful.

Enter jk25 in the coupon code area before checkout and you will get a 25% discount on your order. Combined with their 40-60% discount it makes for sweet deals. (NOTE: YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE DRM TO MAKE PRC FILES WORK ON THE KINDLE).

intriguing..

I'm pretty sure with FictionWise's micropay stuff I'll be using them alot...

Forgot to add. This is only valid till 31st December. I'm spending way too much. I've already bought 13 books at around $2.80 a book ($37 actual money spent to get more than $90 worth of books!).

oh seriously?...

hmmm ok, then I will have to trawl fictionwise justnow and get a few books...

Yup. Came across the code earlier but kept forgetting to post here. When Fictionwise came up I remembered.

Arctic Drift and 30 Days of night and Second Foundation are books with 100% rebates and no geo-restrictions.

*watches money disappear*... :)

Going to spend a while trawling Fictionwise I reckon.
