ANC conference, Polokwane

It seems my guess for president of SA is closer to coming true with Motlanthe being elected as Vice president. Now all that is left is that Zuma will be charged and Motlanthe will take over, or at least i think so, i don't know what the ANC constitution says.

Do you think Zuma might try impeach Mbeki?

Motlanthe came out to say he is not interested and would rather point a suitable candidate. However, my guess is that he is playing neutral for the time being.

I hope someone is documenting this whole conference,... will make an excellent script for a TV soap opera :D

Be interesting to see whether the threatened no confidence vote materialises. I wonder how much support Mbeki has amongst ANC MPs? I'm guessing the DA et al. would support him over Zuma.

I think current MP's will not want to 'humiliate' him (Mbeki) further to show some unity to the media and opposition.

However, should Zuma be charged and should he believe or know that its influenced by Mbeki, there will be a big threat of "no confidence" vote.

I do think they will try the whole vote of no confidence thing if Mbeki's camp makes the change of guard a difficult one.

But I wait to see the composition of the NEC, coz in the run up to this conference, I noticed that the body wields a lot of power.

Depends I think... if the NPA attack Zuma, then the rest of the party will want Mbeki's blood as it was under his leadership the whole fiasco started.

Otherwise I think Mbeki's term will expire peacefully and he will fade away.

I wonder if Thabo has the energy or the inclination to break away and form an independant party? Legally he may not be entitled...
