No thanks. The WC doesn't even have an indiginous population anymore. So the ANC can't play the "homeland" card. Not that they can even lay claim to other parts of S.A.
 
Well.. don't provinces have a sort of limited independence already? What i'd like to see though is where citizens id's vary pending where they stay. As mentioned earlier, there is no distinction as to where your tax is getting spent in some way aside from muncipal rates. Think about it.. at the moment you can go live anywhere you want which is really good in a freedom of movement view but also bad in terms of service delivery(because if cities are known to be thriving you have additional populous suddenly settling adding strain).
 
no idea :P, i don't think there are any though. I think it all boils down to knowing what national and local government covers in their respective budgets. Anyone care to explain that perhaps?

Aren't journalists supposed to be independant and not take sides?? Most probably a black journo since they didn't put a name

Umm, kinda defies the point. Why emigrate when you can stay where you are and get rid of the discriminating elements.

That's my major issue with the ANC government... they are a bunch of racist dictators who take away my opportunity of leading a decent lifestyle just to enrich themselves and strengthen their hold on their dictatorship.

Something like the DA winning the WC has given them a fright and they will do everything in their power to undermine the DA provincial government (has a nice ring to it)... even organizing mass strikes for free houses, electricity, jobs but to no avail.

But I suppose if you are an adult with good finances and a comfortable job you would be able to give your opinion on this matter as it would greatly affect you.
 
Independance of Western Cape is impossible. Imagine that, and I am sure Cacadus district and some areas of Northern Cape will want to be part of the new state and a war between Western Cape and South Africa will follow ;)

What are the chances of this ever happening though? Is it also not only inevitable that it will lead to in-fighting thus civil war? After all that is what happened in Kosovo. People don't peacefully break away.

Is it not the same as Joe Soap declaring his suburb become independant from the Johannesburg Municipality because he doesn't feel it's run properly?

Everyone is aware that there are flaws but you can't just decide well that's that then i'm creating my own state. You have to work towards fixing the problems. If we all adopt an 'in it for myself' attitude what hope does this country have?

Trust me i understand the plight of the average South African and can understand the emotional aspect of this sort of opinion but at the end of the day it sounds a little selfish to me. Let's just worry about us and screw the rest doesn't sound patriotic at all. You wouldn't find this happening in America. When chaos hits America they all band together and become unified. When chaos hits South Africa we all sub-divide and start pointing fingers. It's strange!

I would love to see the DA take ownership of more provinces, the only way they will do this is by delivering, not entertaining ideas of breakaway states.

this break away idea would
just cause the ANC to pull the race (justifiably so reading this thread).
the DA must knuckle down & do well, the result would be that they can pwn the middle class and ensure the ANC never win the WC ever again.

Before that, please convince ANC fan base that DA is not a party for White people only.
Zille made several mistakes in the past weeks, I hope the she will manage Western Cape as she managed Cape Town. May be DA won't show a decline for the next elections (in my opinion, FIFA world cup will boost Zuma's popularity and boost the economy, ANC should then be able to grab more votes for the next Municipal elections)

Um pretty much the same as any country. Hopefully currently racially discriminated against South Africans will be encouraged to move there along with those South African's with the necessary skills. ANC supporting morons will receive financial incentives to piss of to 100% Zulu boy country for the benefits of free aid prevention showers not offered to them in the WC.

you have said all white people should move to the WC & all other races already there will be encouraged to move elsewhere. that wouldn't even pass the subliminal racism test.
