Android app bargains thread.

I capitalized by buying the 3 gameloft games on sale... collectively ill need over 3 to 4 or so Gb to download all data. Nova 3 is about 1.6gb alone, lol
Atleast I got access to get the games should I find a suitable place to downoad wifi, but won't be plying anytime soon... :-\

I feel your pain I saw Gameloft's special 2 Games for R20.00 and wanted grab Nova and TDKR .. The Dark Night Rises clocked at 1.8Gig:( . So I decided to download Six Guns (230MB) instead on 384k as a test.

Download loses connection after ever few megabytes. Then you have to resume is again so I had to monitor the connection the whole time:( . Same thing happend on a 4Meg line.

Is this normal with Gameloft downloads?

I don't think that's normal. I've downloaded large games (1GB++) over 4mbps uncapped adsl without any issues

They currently have a R20 special for 2 Games. Same games on Play Store available @ +/-R60 each. But the SMS payment option is missing. Anyway to take advantage of this option via SMS payment?

Looks like we need to keep our ears to the ground here:

"After reaching a milestone of 20 billion app installations back in June, Google has announced that its digital storefront, Google Play, has passed 25 billion downloads with over 675,000 available apps and games. To commemorate the occasion, the company will be offering deals on apps, music, movies, and books over the next five days, including $0.25 games from Electronic Arts, Rovio, Gameloft, and others. This isn't the first time Google has slashed prices during limited promotions — when the Android Market crossed 10 billion app downloads, the company offered top-tier Android games at $0.10 a pop, and in March, when the service was rebranded, select apps were dropped to $0.49. More details about Google's five days of discounts are expected to be revealed later today and throughout the week."

I see OfficeSuite Pro 6 and Asphalt 7: Heat is available today for R2 each... well worth the purchase, in fact the transaction fees will be more than the actual apps. Pity SA do not have carrier billing yet.

Edit: K bought both, even if I haven't finished Asphalt 6 yet, or think that I'll ever need Office on my phone :)

Don't you just love it when specials come out after you bought something for full price :)

As for the Download, the 1.7 gig can not be any worse than the 3.5 gig I had to wait for The Bards tail. (Joke is I have yet to play it as Torchlight 2 just came out so finishing that 1st)

Edit: I take it this sales is gonna be like the last one, every day we gonna get new apps and if you miss it your stuffed, as it'll be back to full price.

Yep, here's hoping we get The Bard's Tale for 25c

It's a pity that Google still hasn't implemented a cart so that I can add several apps to it and pay once (and get a transaction fee once for the entire collection of apps)

this is a great idea
how much are the transaction fees by the way?

I wish they would catch up with steam on the purchasing side of things, really wish I could send apps as gifts

i am
so they dont charge any currency conversions or anything?
how are you other guys paying??

I use my cheque card and this is how the transaction appears on my statement with no other charges:

2012-09-26 OUTSTANDING CARD AUTHORISATION GOOGLE 2012-09-26 21H39 R 2.08-

I don't know, I also use a credit card. I assume someone would benefit from the cart idea though.
I would benefit when they have these sales, because after a few small transactions in quick succession the credit card company gets suspicious and stops allowing further transactions for the day.

Dam it, already have that :(

Pity about SketchBook Mobile, I would not have minded pro for the tablet :(
LOL, FIFA 12 is not available for my device, yet I got it free with the phone, go figure.

Oh well, Mini Motor racing is the only one on the list worth buying...

Also gift cards are great for someone like my daughter, there is no way in hell I'll load my CC on her Google Account.
