The problem is that 99.9% of the actual users of smartphones/tablets are NOT as well informed, and frankly they don't want to be. They don't care about most of the pros and cons mentioned here. As an example; the 45 year old dentist who has to choose between an Andriod phone and an iphone doesn't care jack s..t about the development potential of the operating system of his phone. He most likely does not even know that his phone has an operating system. He chooses a phone by looking at the list of features on the box and picking it up and seeing how it feels in his hand.

Apple understands this.That is the reason why they have sold so many gazillion ipads. They understand their target market and markets their products accordingly. High end users in the IT industry (like most of you guys that posted on this thread) is most certainly NOT Apples target market.

If either Andriod or Apple would ever be so stupid as to design a phone or tablet OS that would make all you guys happy they would probably sell only 100 000 of them (or however many IT professionals (or enthusiasts) there are in the world).

Apple wants to sell more so they design their products to suit the needs of the average guy on the street. It it a perfect product? No. Do they care? Not as long as they are selling gazillions of them.

Apple knows their target market!

Hate to be a buzz kill but it seems like Core got it right, the iPad is cheaper than the Android tab.

Yep... Even the 64 gig Wi-Fi & 3G is cheaper than the Tab.... Is it just me or have the fandroids gone a bit quiet..?
 
android gingerbread rocks until you get a bad apk, that kills all your contacts, fill your nand and formats your sdcards.
 
Looks like in this instance you get what you pay for...

Really, in this age of internet it should not take you more than 2 minutes of verifying facts to make sure you are not talking the biggest heap of rubbish under the sun.
The first MP3 players were on the market 4-5 years before the ipod and the first mp3 cellphones where on the markets way before the iPhone was an embryo of an idea. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_audio_player will give you an overview.
 
Soooo.....Basically Apple knows their target market are clueless,superficial,wannabe yuppies who don't really understand or give a rats ass about Development potential and OS's and just how pretty a phone looks and how cool their friends think they are for having that phone? this is the general consensus yes?

In spite of this people still openly support Apple products on an (What I would assume to be) IT and Broadband forum with mostly Technology minded members?

I would be ashamed tbh.
 
This is an interesting situation actually. Generally apple stuff is perceived as better for the main reason that it costs more. Then you get apple fanboy comments like "don't whine cos you cant afford it" etc. Also because it costs more you are "cooler" when you pose with one.
Now that everyone knows it's cheap it's not very cool is it? If you can only afford a ipad wifi 16gb then you can get one. If you can afford more you can get a ipad wifi 3g 64gb. If you really can afford it and want to get something that multitasks and has cameras you can get a galaxy.

How good are these cameras btw? Are they comparable to my Canon 1D or my Nikon P6000 that wirelessly transfers the images to my iPad so I can edit and upload? Would you be using it to take holiday snaps?

Your asking if a Device with a camera as an after thought competes with a proper camera ? :wtf:
or was that just some lame question to mask you advertising how your camera can wirelessly transfering images to your ipad to edit it(just like other tabs can do as well)
