Android beats Apple, every time

There's an app on android market called top 100 iphone apps. It updates the top 100 list, and has a direct link to the app in the android market or alternatives. What apps are there on the magical App Store that you can't get the same stuff for android?

Still waiting for just a single one of these one liner Apple Fanbois to do a point by point refutation of the article with accompanying references.

"The article sucks" just doesn't really cut it for me.

Just out of interest, what hack allows you to buy from the Android Marketplace from South Africa? I've figured out the iStore hack, but I can't yet buy stuff from the Android Market.

Eeeh, the article reads a bit like a rant, and that's coming from someone with an HTC Desire. I guess it has to do with the tone.

The best way to refute those is with facts... or else the replies are no better than the article itself.
Let's put the facts on the table.

+1

Don't forget if you actually want to just download a FREE app from the itunes store you need to make an account with apple (in registration) and also put in all your credit card details etc... :(

A nokia 1100 just works too. Unfortunately it can't actually do anything.

Apple definitely won the mp3 player game but I suspect the pad game is going to be rather different. A bit more like the PC game. You will always get the apple fanboys with their pretty, overpriced toys for posing at larney coffee shops and you will get the people that want to actually *use* their device.

Hey! Don't insult my weapon of choice. I can make & receive phone calls AND SMSs!! Ha! Take that!

Not too mention the 100$ you have to fork out and pay apple to become a developer....no transfer...they want a credit card at that? WTF?
developing on android now...

This is what Android looked like in 2007. Here is an actual Android hardware prototype from 2007. Compare that to the iPhone of 2007. Now look at the Android phones of today. Exactly. Android simply switched from being a Nokia E61/ Blackberry ripoff to being an iPhone ripoff.

As for the hardware specs, show me a phone with a screen that's better than the iPhone 4. How about one that's thinner? Or with better battery life? The camera is also probably the 2nd best, next to the N8.

When the iPhone 4 just came out I had to decide which phone I was going to take. At that time the flagship android phone was SGS.

Here is a review from that time
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i9000_galaxy_s_vs_apple_iphone_4-review-500.php

Now I chose the SGS and my friend chose the iPhone 4 and it is very similar. I don't understand why people go on so much about differences that is really so minuscule.

Now specs wise, when the iPhone 4 came out the top phones at that time were the iPhone, SGS and the HTC Desire. Each one of these phones are really nice to have, but they will be surpassed by the newer phones so you can't compare the iPhone to newer phones.

Now on the thinner part I will agree with you, but the SGS camera is better in my opinion during the day (it doesn't have a flash) and my screen looks better than my friends iPhone though it has less resolution, you can't really pick it up. The thing where I think iPhone wins and is really important is the fact that they update the software really quickly, where the SGS people had to wait and is still waiting for an official update. I have gone the rooting way and my phone is always up to date, but it would be nice to know that I didn't void my warranty in doing so.

oh and also waiting for someone to name that magical app that's on the appstore that's not on the marketplace?
apple = fartapps*100,000

android has one that trumps apple....i'ts called flash ;)

Thin - is that a top priority for you? I mean really, does a few millimeters rock your world that much?
The Iphone has a mediocre 5 megapixel camera, it is nowhere near high end camera phones from the likes of Samsung and Nokia. But the camera is only one thing, how about HDMI out or the ability to be an HD (MKV, H.264, Dolby Surround) media player? How about the basic functionality Nokia had since 2005 - mass storage mode?

A high res display quickly becomes a useless shiny gadget if the technology underneath it is limited.
I agree with Marsbeetle. Article is infantile & pointless.
Since when has it been pointless to beat up Apple? This is a great article despite the fact that it makes some sensible observations.
Well personally I think the marketplace is vastly inferior to the App Store. There's just no comparing the App selection.
Go install all those apps - I dare you. See how useful such a big App store really is.
Personally I find there is enough apps in Ovi store and what I cannot get there I install directly off the web like normal computers do. App count is as useless as millimeter count.

Again, what has the world come to if you can't pull an apple rant every now and then?

And be a flashlight with an FM radio ;)

There's an app called MarketEnabler that will fake your location and allow you to buy straight off the android market. Alternatively you can use a site like http://slideme.org/ and buy apps there.

So do you guys have Dead Space? How about Instagram? Skype over 3G? Heytell? Photoshop Express? Fruit Ninja? Have you ever seen the Twitter for iPhone UI? It's masterful.

When it comes to apps, nobody beats Apple. That's a fact.

Spurious :)

The article was an opinion piece. You can't really argue with someone over their opinion. There's no accounting for taste ;)

Oh yeah, now that you mention it, having used the Facebook app on both platforms, the Android one needs some work...

Did I hear someone mention Ovi Store!! I wouldn't use the same breath. Now that's one useless place.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for Android. The problem right now is the marketplace, there's little incentive to develop great apps because the market for paid apps is a fraction of that of the App Store.

Sure you can.... you just calmly and analytically refute each opinion with a fact. Seriously, it's not that hard.
