Yep, me again. I have the Skyworth Binge Android Box. It came pre installed with DSTV and SHOWMAX.

Problem I have is that when I change the video quality to 1080p, the image still looks 480p. I have checked that in the settings menu it is adjusted to stream at 1080p and also when I click on the cog wheel while watching a movie, it also shows that the highest setting is selected which is 1080p.

In my Skyworth Binge Box settings, I have set SDR to HDR on AUTO (You can either select Auto or Off). And I have set HDR to SDR on OFF (You can either select AUTO, ON or OFF).

So what gives here? Why is my box not streaming 1080p?

Youtube streams fine otherwise and streaming at its true quality it is set to.

Not all channels are 1080p on DSTV or DSTV Now. You can change as much settings as you want, sadly that's the reality that you need to face.

If the channel isn't listed as HD you're not going to get 1080p even with the setting on 1080p in the app and on your android box.

The sport channels are all 1080p and you can clearly see it is in full HD compared to a nonHD channel.

Found something interesting. Some content I find can be streamd at 1080p .... but my device auto switches to 520sd video quality on a 1080p TV screen.

Do you think the HDMI cable that came with the Android Box might not be fast enough to handle higher video options?

I found this in youtube. When you select 720p option, and go to your "stats for geeks" on youtube, it shows that even though I am on 720p, the video is being displayed in 520 sd quality, upscaled to 720p quality.

I have a HDMI from my Computer to my TV (20m cable) and Youtube, even DSTV Now displays a crisp look.

On the same TV, the android box does not display higher than 520 sd quality even though the settings CAN higher and even though it is set to be higher.

Does this make sense?

Sounds really odd and yeah, it could possibly be your HDMI cable

Although, let's get some feedback from other forumites tomorrow before we come to a final conclusion
