Android >>> iOS

I guess it all depends on what you want from a phone, some people want options and settings and to customize the experience to the nth degree.
others are happy with how it comes, and just say fck it, it works I couldn't be bothered.
This last bit...

You'll find, just by looking at the top of the page, that this is a "Trusted in Tech" forum.

There is a natural propensity for folks here to want "options and settings and to customize", but you'll also find there are only 300 132 MyBB members in a country with 60 million folks, and most of those folks are more than happy "with how it comes".

Don't unnecessarily step on rakes just because your confirmation bias is satisfied when you log onto the forum.

Apple's hardware is good, only issue is the price, if you want to spend that flagship money, they're good, but you basically have no chance of easy repairs.

Actually, that's what may push me - the price .

Ironically, it's better priced than the S21/S22

Better according to who ?

Although not everyone follows DXOMark, these are the top scoring .

Anyway - the query was more related to how to change Gmail / Whatsapp / contacts / Google Photos
depends what you want from a phone, I pointed out that Vivo, 50MP camera, if that isnt good enough for you I dont know what is.
then there are the Pixels, sadly need to be imported, but still excellent phones, with everything you could want.

and it goes on and on, many options out there,
kind of like saying I want a new car, I drive a Polo vivo now, let me get....another Polo vivo.

Right now, you've got no argument or facts

great, by the amount of White Polo Vivo's in SA, I guess people aren't fans of looking around.

Do note that at that level, most of those comparisons are subjective for a majority of people's photos as it depends on the color science etc.

A good upper mid-range is like 90% of the way there, I don't see the point of spending that much tbh.
But if you're constantly using your phone and you enjoy it and can easily afford it, feel free.

In regards to integration with apps, it should be fine, most annoying will probably be the worse notification system, else both Android and iOS are pretty good, iOS has good integration with Apple ecosystem as well, you have no need for iTunes for years now. Think if you are using a password manager outside of Apple it might be an issue, but don't quote me on that, it's been a long while and they probably sorted that out.

In regards to mail, note the limited amount of mail, @Thor had issues with it, but a majority of us don't get hundreds/thousands of email a day and need access to all of it for years.

I pointed out that Vivo, 50MP camera, if that isnt good enough for you I dont know what is.

You're that ignorant you don't even understand that megapixels aren't the answer to what is a good camera and what isn't.

I know you won't bother to educate yourself as you seem to like just writing nonsense but I'll post this anyway.

okay, let me start with what my experience has been like,
having a idiotphone 7 vs a Samsung s9.

Idiotphone battery is depleted, IOS 15.2, barely last a day, sure I could take it in , warranty expired but replacement cell , 3,5K.
Samsung, many options, much more than others. and all of them not more than 1,5K even with "labour"

software, Idiotphone has restrictions and limits on what you can/cant do,
for instance, something I would like is a daily wallpaper change, nope, buy the app for it,
samsung, sure, what would you like...

camera, idiotphone has a crappy camera, but I suppose its an old model, but even with all the updates,
still crap, never gets better, so grainy at times.

Samsung, dont like this camera, okay, get gcam, and even my mediocre camera is instantly updated to a camera with hundreds of options, many of them I simply cant understand.
but I can experiment and try them all out see what works.
Idiotphone, nope its an idiotphone.

and so it goes on and on, Samsung and Android has options, Apple has none,
if you willlng to say Bye to options, great enjoy,
me I will never in a thousand years say no to Hundreds of options.

but you your own person, you make your own call, this is my opinion having "owned" both, and being completely disgusted and horrified with apple,
AND still having my trusty Android along to compare it to, will never make that leap.

I moved over about a year or so ago and Apple has given a transfer app which attempts to find iOS versions of all your android apps, transfers things like WiFi and whatnot so does the bulk of it for you.

WhatsApp convo will be gone but I deleted the app soon after that anyway.

I moved off all Google services, while they work just fine, Google does limit some of their apps annoyingly.

I saw no point using Google and iCloud photos, what was on Google is still there, but added nothing new after a few weeks of using and realizing in some ways apples photos app is nice and more feature rich in ways that matter every day.
That is definitely wrong, Google Photos is substantially better, but that's if you actually use most of the editing features, and I think they recently locked a lot behind Google One subs (have it since was R290/year for 100GB to share with entire family, so don't know what is and what is not locked). Sorting/search is way better in Google Photos as well.
While you loose things like customizations, automations via shortcuts can be a bit daft, I find given the lack of bloatware, better photos and overall more polishing and consistent apps, incl 3rd party actually make it an all round better and smoother experience.
Most apps are fine on both platforms for major apps that most of us use.
The fact that should I choose too, this phone will still be getting updates in 5 years time is a nice touch, and you get it when it comes out instead of a few months later if you lucky with all these disconnected manufacturers.
S20/21 will have 5 years of security updates as well, Samsung generally has been giving security updates for 4 years at least since the S6.
Not all versions of iOS are equal, Apple cuts out features for older phones, so usually you get the face lift and security at least, the fact that they keep incrementing major versions still and are not clear that they have differentiations/what they are annoys me tbh, misleads consumers.
It’s really true, it’s a walled garden and the more you climb into apple, services and hardware, the better the overall experience, the inter connectivity is something I don’t see android getting anytime ever, not until they can control the entire ecosystem.
This one is the main reason I am replying to your post.

SwiftKey: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey&hl=en_US&gl=US from MS, you can now sync your clipboard between Windows 10+ and Android.
In Windows can enable via:

And Phone app:
Great with Samsung, think it allows phone/app mirroring as well there, and take calls, the messages, notifications, photos sync can be done on all Android, though on Android I'd use messages.google.com, photos.google.com instead and notifications I use Telegram, Gmail and Discord on PC anyways, so doesn't matter.

The best integration there is the copy paste OTP, but that's not worth the premium, and requires swap everything to Apple, just an iPhone you actually lose a lot of possible sync.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion

Seems to me that Apple have got much better in terms of battery and camera over the last few years though.

I wouldn't think so, but again its all subjective,

I like options that work for the environment I'm in, and if it isnt working for me, get one with that option, or
buy one with Specs that far crush idiotphones.

idiotphones, you get what you get, live with it.

I couldn't even get my OneNote to sync between my Windows laptop and iPhone app, it was god awful.

Switched to Apple notes when I went Mac and the handoff is instant, à la:

Just my experience anyway.

Yep, definitely improved quite a bit, they have a great standby at the cost of delayed notifications, same as Huawei.
Note that pretty much everyone else improved as well, batteries became way bigger.

Another thing to remember though is that Apple's charging is quite slow, think it was 20W or so at max, think S21 was 45W. Note that charging speed is below 50% battery, it will lower the wattage after that, under 50% there is no damage to the battery for charging that quickly.

1. When? Most of this sync stuff has been the last year or two.
2. iPhone app is on iOS, not on Android, and don't think Dolby will buy a Mac if he doesn't already have one, it's irrelevant.
Also OneNote sync is not the same thing.

You know it’s online…

great, by the amount of White Polo Vivo's in SA, I guess people aren't fans of looking around.
why I like him? because he tells the truth, if you believe him or not is your prerogative.
and he isn't saying anything other people haven't echoed before.

there is a good reason Toyota is almost always on top of the sales charts all the time,
and its worldwide, and even more so on the hijacked lists or used in war, its Toyota Toyota Toyota.

also had a Sony E3, never liked it, until my first Samsung, after the warranty gave up, gave rooting and modifying a go,
never looked back, bored with my phone, find a ROM load it, and its like a new phone, features come out of nowhere, I didn't even pay for.

I guess it all depends on what you want from a phone, some people want options and settings and to customize the experience to the nth degree.
others are happy with how it comes, and just say fck it, it works I couldn't be bothered.
I had a Samsung S3 before the Sony - hated the thing.

Also did the whole ROM update/swap etc, customise up the wazoo, etc, etc

By the time I'd gotten to the Z3, I was over the customisation and ability to change everything and wanted a stock experience where everything just worked and I could rely on updates directly from Google. If the Pixel had been available here at the time I'd probably have gone with that, but it wasn't and the rest is history.

Can honestly say that I've not ever regretted making the switch.

For what I did with it, I cannot tell the difference, search is the same, I don’t edit with such basic tools.

Sure, Samsung may commit to 5 years of security updates, and while apple may drop things, you get 5 years of feature and security updates, and again, Samsung will ship the updates MONTHS after android has released them, iOS is available to everyone, worldwide within a 48 hour window.

Certain features in many apps work better on iOS, and that’s not even apples fault really, but more the openness of Android, apple you have at any one time a handful of devices, most of them with the same hardware, baring a screen size and camera variance. Android on the other hand comes with tens of thousands of hardware combinations making it impossible for developers to ensure consistent experience, quality and parity across the expanse.

Yippe, one keyboard can sync with the worlds worst operating system, if I was not using Mac, you’d not catch me dead using windows, I have not touched that pile of shot in 6/7 years, and if the internet is anything to go by it’s only gotten worse since then.

Honestly had no idea, and actually hated apple until I was basically forced to use it for work and then after 2 years on work hardware I migrated the entire house to apple, phones, tablets, pc, smarts speakers, the lot and that when I really got just how handy the constant micro conveniences are when working in a connected and coherent ecosystem.

It’s not for everyone and could give 2 shots which one you prefer, for me personally it’s the best choice and in the day to day, general usage, it far exceeds anything Android is capable of, but Android does not have an ecosystem, it’s not possible for it to create a coherent connected experience across all devices.

All I mean is SwiftKey being able to share your clipboard history is hardly the same as inter connectivity between devices that he was talking about.

if you do some searching around and stop drinking the kool aid so many options available with Android,
literally an avalanche of options, a lot of them far far superior to idiotphone.

but I guess when the Cult is recruiting members,
they lure you in with flashy logos and mediocre hardware, and before you know it, your a Isheep going Apple good, Android Baaaad...

no thanks, and I have one of their idiotphones right now, use it as a glorified hotspot for my Samsung.
will never in a thousand years, buy one, no sir!
It's an iPhone 6 isn't it?

someone's ripping you off - Digicape charged me R750 for the original battery (parts and labour incl)
