Android >>> iOS

It's an iPhone 6 isn't it?
7 and I'm going to a 12 at some point,
sure we have a MDM on our work phones, but that just is for the encrypted work emails to work,

otherwise, more I use it, more I'm frustrated and angry with it.
bear in Mind Id NEVER brought ANYTHING Apple before, for me to go Zero to 100 in no time flat is just astonishing.

More I use it even for something simple like opening the phone, and ending up in the wallet,
is purely agony.

yeah, and Ifixit also publishes guides, point being its needlessly expensive,
serialized and difficult to do oneself without the correct tools.

but Apple cultists will nonetheless say its designed by angels so its supposed to be that way.
Who quoted you R3.5K to replace an iPhone 7 battery?

Can you proof read what you post before you click 'Post reply'?

When you have stopped frothing at the mouth that is.

For what I did with it, I cannot tell the difference, search is the same, I don’t edit with such basic tools.

Sure, Samsung may commit to 5 years of security updates, and while apple may drop things, you get 5 years of feature and security updates, and again, Samsung will ship the updates MONTHS after android has released them, iOS is available to everyone, worldwide within a 48 hour window.
Okay, but how does that affect you really in day-to-day? Why do you need to be on e.g. Android 12 instead of Android 11? You still get security updates within a good time window, the rest of the OS still works fine.
Certain features in many apps work better on iOS, and that’s not even apples fault really, but more the openness of Android, apple you have at any one time a handful of devices, most of them with the same hardware, baring a screen size and camera variance. Android on the other hand comes with tens of thousands of hardware combinations making it impossible for developers to ensure consistent experience, quality and parity across the expanse.
So you think giant companies do not test their app against e.g. the S21, a super popular phone with a user group that's pretty high spenders?
Yippe, one keyboard can sync with the worlds worst operating system, if I was not using Mac, you’d not catch me dead using windows, I have not touched that pile of shot in 6/7 years, and if the internet is anything to go by it’s only gotten worse since then.
So your issue is Windows then, and you have a completely different use-case.
Honestly had no idea, and actually hated apple until I was basically forced to use it for work and then after 2 years on work hardware I migrated the entire house to apple, phones, tablets, pc, smarts speakers, the lot and that when I really got just how handy the constant micro conveniences are when working in a connected and coherent ecosystem.

It’s not for everyone and could give 2 shots which one you prefer, for me personally it’s the best choice and in the day to day, general usage, it far exceeds anything Android is capable of, but Android does not have an ecosystem, it’s not possible for it to create a coherent connected experience across all devices.
Why use the word "but" instead of "and"?
And you're saying your use-case is the correct one. I have a lot of smart devices in my house, casting to devices is fine/easy (both audio to speakers and video to chromecast, YT app's built-in one is also pretty good for old TV's btw, should be iOS as well), things like NFC tags for routines like laying my phone on my desk triggering a tasker to turn on the table light, etc., is all not possible in Apple's ecosystem until you get a first-party solution.

For me, things like clipboard sync are useless/don't care, think the only thing I really want still are e-mail integration in-app, still annoying that I have to hit copy on my phone so I can paste the OTP in windows: https://web.dev/web-otp/ Chrome is slowly getting there, but somehow seems abandoned.
All I mean is SwiftKey being able to share your clipboard history is hardly the same as inter connectivity between devices that he was talking about.
Sure, that's why I covered photos, messages, calling besides the clipboard sync, that basically covers 95% of people's use-case.

EDIT:
Nowadays, "Android" vs iOS is really a case of what is your budget, and what OS do you have a preference for, neither is that much better than the other for a long while now. Well except if going tablets, Android tablets suck, though Samsung actually has done some decent stuff with the proper desktop stuff.

someone's ripping you off - Digicape charged me R750 for the original battery (parts and labour incl)
Would love to see that quote and who it is from, the R3.5K one that is.

Posts on this thread suggests it is just more thumb sucked horseshit.
Will of course apologise to the poster if I am wrong.

I had a Samsung S3 before the Sony - hated the thing.

Also did the whole ROM update/swap etc, customise up the wazoo, etc, etc

By the time I'd gotten to the Z3, I was over the customisation and ability to change everything and wanted a stock experience where everything just worked and I could rely on updates directly from Google. If the Pixel had been available here at the time I'd probably have gone with that, but it wasn't and the rest is history.

Can honestly say that I've not ever regretted making the switch.
here's my question to you,
hypothetically if the Pixel was available in SA, would you go back to it?

also Pixelexperience ROM, ever tried it? all the pixel features, but in a Samsung or whatever you have.
I had it on my Swift and my S9 before I updated to android 12.

okay, let me start with what my experience has been like,
having a idiotphone 7 vs a Samsung s9.

Idiotphone battery is depleted, IOS 15.2, barely last a day, sure I could take it in , warranty expired but replacement cell , 3,5K.
Samsung, many options, much more than others. and all of them not more than 1,5K even with "labour"

software, Idiotphone has restrictions and limits on what you can/cant do,
for instance, something I would like is a daily wallpaper change, nope, buy the app for it,
samsung, sure, what would you like...

camera, idiotphone has a crappy camera, but I suppose its an old model, but even with all the updates,
still crap, never gets better, so grainy at times.

Samsung, dont like this camera, okay, get gcam, and even my mediocre camera is instantly updated to a camera with hundreds of options, many of them I simply cant understand.
but I can experiment and try them all out see what works.
Idiotphone, nope its an idiotphone.

and so it goes on and on, Samsung and Android has options, Apple has none,
if you willlng to say Bye to options, great enjoy,
me I will never in a thousand years say no to Hundreds of options.

but you your own person, you make your own call, this is my opinion having "owned" both, and being completely disgusted and horrified with apple,
AND still having my trusty Android along to compare it to, will never make that leap.
I'mma need a nap after all the heavy lifting to get this:

EDIT: And Dave might need to take a nap too.

Anything is difficult when you’re not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Blame the tools.

Not anymore - in the years since getting the iPhone 7 I've bought into the whole ecosystem (we had a choice between Dell and Macbook Pro at work at some point, also got Airpods, AppleTV, AppleWatch, iPad) and everything just works together seamlessly. So it's too late for that. Also got the entire family on iPhones and we share Cloud Storage, Music, etc. I'd have liked to play with the Apple mini speakers but they're too expensive so I use Amazon Echo's instead.

I also have HomeAssistant running and that integrates with HomeKit so it means that everyone in the house can control various iOT devices from their phones using a consistent interface.

PS: Why aren't you using Pixelexperience ROM after you updated to Android 12?

I've just thought of something else .

What about my Huawei watch ?

Should work fine, think you lose access to SpO2, stress monitoring, and find your phone. Some also report loading up cards won't work and might have issues with music players, but would assume if e.g. Spotfiy it should probably work fine.

It's an older GT - so I don't have Sp02 or stress monitoring - but I want it for the notifications mainly

Pixel experience didnt work with one app of mine, so switched to another one,
one advantage with android, isnt working, get another. you arent tied down to Apples way or the highway.

and even the new Rom I have right now, Pixelexperience is built in just called something else, so same features
and nothing lost.

Apples idiotphone, same from the day I got it till now, stupid and slow and useless.
but then again, I do have to say thank you to Apple for one thing.

Im never going to be a customer of your overpriced, Spying, Garbage based ecosystem in a Million years.
Im fortunate to have never fallen for the Hype, and fortunate to not have had somebody try to convince me, or gotten it as part of an upgrade.

Ive actually used a idiotphone and come away less and less impressed with the Device.
so silver lining in all of this I guess.
