Anger over Satanism lesson

Jesus loves satanists just as much as he loves the most ethical christian..

How about you start acting like christ, and not like the guys who murdered him.

What, Jewish? It wasn't satanists who killed him. It wasn't even pagan romans.

Maybe you should read your bible a little closer next time.

Again talking as if Satan is worshipped as a deity.Satanism is philosophy dressed up in different robes.

My statement was slamming judgement, not any religion. I would have thought that was obvious.

What's wrong about this? You're describing a more enlighten society, where the idea of "satanism" moves away from ignorance and into the realm of philosophy in the social discourse. That's definitely a step up from where our society stands today, where we still see the tired old knee-jerk responses to "satanism" that we saw in the 80s.

Oh, sorry, I misread you, and I only half agree. I think that if we exposed more alternative religions such as satanism we would have more people ranting on what satanism is and isn't, as opposed to now, where the dominant reaction is "ooooh satanism = worshipping the devil = evil evil evil = must be avoided".

Yes im all for exposing our kids to alternative religions, but unfortunately we live in a predominantly Christian society, and our education system is based on western values which means they will learn things from a western/Christian view point, which is not necessary a bad thing it just means their options to learn anything other than Christian values is going to be difficult.

Which is a good thing in that it encourages debate.

Here we go - if you believe then there is only one God. There are no others so satanists, from that perspective, are not able to worship another deity - there just isn't one.

If you believe that there could be multiple gods, maybe just the One, or perhaps nothing at all then you are agnostic, and here I speak from my own western cultural perspective in defining that, and spend your life in confusion about what it all means.

If you don't believe then you are an atheist and frankly you have nothing to contribute to the discussion. Not even philosophically.

In short we are only left with believers to whom the whole topic matters. And to that extent it isn't philiosophy - it is the very heart of your immortal soul. So satanists sell theirs for some reason - they have free will. And Christains, Muslims, and Jews save theirs.

Where is the philosophy? Only in the discussion of free will, perhaps.

I didn't define what religion is and try and force that on anyone.

And now there is a danger of this thread now really needing to belong in one of the off topic sub-areas. It started off as a discussion about outrage about satanism being discussed in schools. And some people are perfectly justified in their outrage because it goes against everything that they know to be right. If you think that it is just a philosophical issue then you are either agnostic or atheist, in which case it really doesn't matter to you if it isn't covered - it has no meaning at all.

And if you are a satanist, you know you don't follow a religion. But you might want it as a topic because your underlying aim is to subvert those who follow God.
