Anyone have an idea where I can get a reputable retailer to buy the RBC48 battery pack for my APC UPS?

Those appear to be standard 7Ah 12V batteries used on alarm panels/gate motors. You should be able to buy them at any battery store or even the security store. I would try the former, the quality of them would likely be better.

I was given 6 APC Smart UPS''s. Pure sine wave ones because they were busted and not worth repairing. I bought replacement batteries from Communica and Mantech and 2 years later they still going strong.

Or do what I do, hook it up to a 105 a/h Deep cycle run a TV, DSTV and ADSL throughout loadshedding. :)

APC use CSB batteries.

I found a place in Cape Town that sell them, you could do the same for your area.

Essentially my UPS takes a RBC7. It has a 100amp fuse and a Anderson connector that connects to the battery.

I just bought two CSB batteries and used the original connectors and everything. The two batteries were joined with double sided tape (no more nails), even the originals were joined like that.

Afterward it looks IDENTICAL except for the R1k VS R4k price difference.

Worth looking into.

Used APCFix to reset the UPS to factory defaults (run time was completely off). Performs longer than when it was new (SUA1500i, ran for 35 minutes with 30% load and batteries still sitting at 12v. Stopped the test because it felt pointless to kill them when I have more than suitable run-time)

Would you mind sharing the place in CT. I am in the market for 12 and I like CSB ones rather than unknown brands.

is it safe to replace UPS batteries with 105AH batteries? especially if your UPS is only rated 400watts? Charging I would think be an issue for this kind of thing.

I guess it will depend on the interval between loadsheds and also the length of the loadsheds if its too frequent.

I dont think that answers my question? lol. Its great to have 105AH batteries replaced with the stock standard batteries in your current PSU. My question is, would it be safe to do so? because your 600VA psu was only designed to charge your measly battery that only lasts a few minutes.... compared to your 105AH batteries.
