Apple iPad, tablet disruption: Five devices in trouble

Big advantage I can see for tablets is ease of use, sometimes if I'm watching tv or whatever, and I want to look something up, i have to go and power up my laptop, tablets just seem so much more accessible, no waiting to boot up etc. I dont see it as a laptop replacement............yet.........but that day may come sooner than we think.
 
With my Asus Eee Pad transformer, a laptop is just a keyboard doc away with full keyboard and mouse support. Esp with today's online word I can access a server as with a normal laptop and do my normal work, when done remove keyboard and I am back in the tablet world.

PS: Thats the dream.... as ASUS is taking there sweat bloody time getting them into SA :)

But yeah I can see troubles ahead for PC's and alike
 
Yeah, booting up a laptop takes some up to a few minutes... Tabs and phones are instant...

Although my Macbook is ready for internet surfing as soon as I have opened the screen. Reconnecting to WiFi takes a few seconds longer, but it's not minutes!

And the 2nd Gen Android tablets with attachable keyboards make a good netbook replacement at least!

My iPad is 'always on' on just way more convenient than grabbing the laptop... Become quicker with the on screen keypad too!
 
The netbook is certainly dead in my opinion. I'm not convinced that I would use the on screen keyboard for extended periods, I like the idea of a plug in keyboard.
 
Even a smartphone is eating into pc/laptop time. Personally doing a lot of my browsing and even watching series on my phone nowadays.

I completely disagree. Had an iPad and sold it, going to get a mba instead, the iPad is just too restrictive.
 
Smartphones are small, easy to carry, with the right apps they very functional & imho are impacting pc's .& many other devices sales. Tablets e.g iPad, are easy to use, easy to carry around & further compound the impact on pc sales, add a external keyboard & u have netbook capabilities! I'm loving where tech us going, smaller, easier, functional, user friendly
